Subject: Gift cards

Why do gift cards (including render rewards) expire after a month? I can't see any logical reason for this.

Hi zensai,

Render Rewards are on a monthly basis, Gift Certificates do not expire until 5 years from date of purchase, Promotional gifts may expire according to the promotion.

Can you tell me which type of Gift card  other than the Render Rewards you are referring to?

Thanks

Hi Tina,

Well that's what this page says:

http://www.renderosity.com/render-rewards-program-cms-14353

"All rewards will be issued in the form of Renderosity MarketPlace Gift Certificates. Gift Certificates will expire thirty (30) days from date of issue, and they are non-transferable."

Anyway, even if it's only Render Rewards that expires after 30 days, I still don't see the logical reason for this. It's like if someone gives you a box of chocolate as a reward for something, but tells you that you have to eat it within 30 days, otherwise they'll take it back. Makes no sense.

Hi zenzai,

The render rewards is a promotional program like a lot of reward type programs in that you get rewarded for what you spend in one month with a "voucher" or "discount" to spend within the next month.. This is pretty standard and common with a rewards type program and actually I'm in a few brick and mortar rewards program that I only have one weekend to spend my reward before it expires.  30 days though is fairly typical.

Thanks

Hi Stacey,

Yes, it's standard practice in many places, but I still fail to see the logic behind this time limit...

Because it is a rewards program, not the same as a purchased "gift certificate". It's a promotional event and just like coupons or anything that nature, they are timed. It's a marketing tool used by a large majority of various types of business.
