Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 16 10:02 pm)
It's not the GC on the hair itself, but its transparency maps. The script Bopper cites will fix it by setting the gamma values of the bump, displacement and transparency maps to 1.0. It's in the Scripts Menu under Material mods, IIRC...
PS, be sure to install Poser Service Release 2.

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."There are 2 ways to look at this. If you are pursuing using gamma correction = 2.2 in your render settings then you will need to reset all Gc = 1 for all trans-, bump, specular and displacement maps. This will also mean paying closer attention how lighting will affect your scene; reduce your intensities, decrease the number of lights, and consider using a self illuminating skydome (BB's envsphere) for outdoors lighting conditions. But this is a different issue which has been extensively addressed throughout the forum.
But if you are an old Poser traditionalist where you rely on hacks and tricks, leave everything in the material room alone and change the gamma in the render settings to 1. However, with PP2012, everything looks better if you let go of tradition.
Glad to help. Now for the figure; have you tried SnarlyGribbly's EZSkin yet? It's great and it's free...

Hi folks. I've just returned to Poser after an extended period of time of using DAZ Studio, so I'm re-familiarizing myself with working with it.I've encountered an issue with a particular hair prop - Lucrezia Locks by SWAM and Goldtassel for V4 - that I'm struggling with and I don't know whether it's an issue with the hair itself or with how I'm using it.
In short, the transparency mapping seems to make the hair too thin - see the example image attached. I know it's not supposed to be like that (and it provided a fuller head of hair in both DS3 and 4, as well as earlier Poser), so can anyone help or give any pointers, please?
I'm using Poser 2012 in Win 7 64.
