Subject: Python folder in Runtime for P9 necessary?

3doutlaw ( ) posted Tue, 19 June 2012 at 4:12 PM · edited Sat, 21 September 2024 at 11:59 PM

I am running Poser9, and it seems that it only picks up changes to my Python stuff, if I change/add scripts in the Program Files area for Smith Micro.

Is there any need for the Python area under the Runtime directory, or is that now an old unused feature location for it?  (or can you set where it looks for this stuff?)

Its sort of a vestige; content that includes scripts will install them there. You can put scripts in the content runtime, but they won't show up in the Scripts Menu; you will have to run then via Run Python Script and browse for them....

plus: some scripts etc just don't work (properly) when they're not installed in the Runtime that comes in the exe folder. There were several threads on that recently.

Other scripts are better not installed there, especially as they want to write into the Windows UAD-protected environment (eg Program Files folder).

plus: Poser itself has a load of functions installed in there, not something to be moved around, i guess.

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.

visit www.aRtBeeWeb.nl (works) or Missing Manuals (tutorials & reviews) - both need an update though
