Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 04 4:13 pm)
I know Mapps makes some excellent freeware car textures that CAN be redistributed. I forget the file name though.
They do a great job with their stuff. Alwasy a trusted name to download something they make for free.

Oooohhh! Look! Like 100 different sites with Poser materials... I also Googled "not helpful", but I just got a single link back: http://www.renderosity.com/homepage.php?userid=4454
Sorry for the interrupt, now back to the original question about a "consolidated" location?
What made me think abuot it, was not only that I was searching for some rubber like material, but also when BB was wondering about posting his stuff in the cloud, and mentioned he had a ton of things he's made. I was wondering maybe there was a place, but it just was not very popular. At one time someone mentioned a Poser wiki that never took off...

Thanks! That 268 Poser 5 Materials is a lot of materials! Be nice to sort/store these, sort of like what Lux was trying to do in the Luxrender Material database, or Paolo tries to do with Acsel shaders
No problem.
I have no idea on the storing of things though. I just follow what the zip thingy says. LOL and point it to my runtime.

The Wisdom of bagginsbill:
"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."when it comes to Poser Materials, my findings are that many of them are outdated and don't do well anymore under PoserPro2012 conditions like IDL / SSS / GC.
when it comes to free high quality images for texturing, one of my fav's is http://freetextures.3dtotal.com/
and for non-free ones: the famous 3D Total texture DVD series.

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.
visit www.aRtBeeWeb.nl (works) or Missing Manuals (tutorials & reviews) - both need an update though
Thanks for the input.
Is there a "name" difference between a material like the Leather (under Basic Materials->Clothes) one in Poser, versus ones made for a OBJ model, or a picture of a pair of pants, that can be used to make a MAT file for a model?
I thought it was a "procedural", but then not sure why the ones under Basic Materials are not under the Procedurals...unless that is just due to older versions of Poser?

I would use library, but I think Poser itself uses that.
Anyway, is there a place where a lot of Poser materials are stored? I know in Materials, there is the Basic Materials and Procedurals, but I was thinking of all the materials that people here have come up with over the years.
Is there an online storage for them or central download place or something...? ...or just the freestuff section?
