Lol... there are innumerable uses for Photoshop with Poser.. and quite a number of different purposes. Post work.. primarily, you export your render then open it in Photoshop to add/fix/adjust according to need... most often, it's simple touch-up. Another use is to import the skin of something and make adjustments to it... add a tatoo, for example, or add text to a sign.. that kind of thing.. it's also good for procedurals.. you want something to REALLY look rusty, kind of thing. lately, in the last few years, you can import a 3D object and paint directly on it or add to it.. it's real-time and WYSIWYG... be careful of this, though, some of it can be deceptive and frustrating... the interface is NOT what it should be.. unless they fixed it in CS6.
As far as post-work... Photoshop can open almost any format, so what you send out as a render can usually be opened and manipulated.. just remember.. your render is now a static image.. 2D, so you can't rotate or manipulate what's in it... just the image itself.
Has anyone done it?..lol.. most of the Poser images you see in the galleries are post-worked with a photoshop type, image manipulation program.
How to... easily done.. get the scene as you want it, do the render.. open the render in Photoshop... make the changes you want, save in the format needed... the HARD part is shifting your mind from the 3D "world" to 2D... in Photoshop, you have to simulate angles... a halo.. simple?.. well, not exactly... to match the render, you have to make an oval then size and adjust the angle to make it look right.
One thing that gets ignored a lot... you can create your background in Photoshop and import it into Poser.. this can be extremely useful. I hope my rambling on has helped a little. Lou.
P.S.
Background... background image.. aka backdrop... no idea how much you know, so, please don't be insulted if this seems too basic.
"..... and that was when things got interestiing."
Hi Lou! No not insulting at all, someone may need this info as well! I know how to do postwork... I am the cut & paste queen! LOL! If it can be pushed, shoved or tweaked in almost any way in PS I can do that!
What I was asking, because I hear of this but don't know of anyone doing it... is exporting a scene out of poser (*I am not sure if this would be done making a PZ3?), into photoshop, and then after working the magic sending it back to poser to finish the render. Did that make more sense? Is this what Colada is for? Example> you have a fantasy scene, and you need a lot of smokey effects. So you export the image before the render into PS and add the smoke/mist brushes. Then when it looks right you send it back into poser and then render. Can this be done?
Becaue one of the issue I face is you set up a poser scene, and say the shadows are "off" so you want to fix those but in the full scene the character/props are integrated into the complete scene and the only real way to work the magic is if you render ech part seperately. Like the character/prop, and the background set up scene, etc... Boy now that I think of it this would be great if it isn't invented! LOL!!!
So you partially answered my question, but I need to know how to send it back into poser... oh hell I need to know how to send it to photoshop too! And if I am asking can be done at all?
ThanX!!!!

I believe you can import 3d objects into CS5 Extended. Not sure about CS5, though. Nor about PZ3's.
Semidieu at RDNA has a rendering script (Advanced Render Settings) that permits rendering of individual mat zones and individual figure passes. Very useful
PoserPro 2014, PS CS5.5 Ext, Nikon D300. Win 8, i7-4770 @ 3.4 GHz, AMD Radeon 8570, 12 GB RAM.
You also can import Poser file in DAZStudio pro (free for now) and then ,using 3dbridge in DAZStudio, render directly on a layer in Photoshop, make some ajustment and render on another layer
I have now Photoshop CS6 extended and i did some test on that and working ok.
The 3d functions of cs6 extended are now more developped than before.I have did some test with obj format and collada format. The problem is with textures which are not always imported.i think Collada format from Poser or from Dazstudio are not completed standardized
CS6 extended can work with different 3d formats:3ds,obj,Dae,u3d,fl3,kmz It also have a limited exporting option for 3d
I cannot really go so far on this because i am still learning CS6 extended.I know that in 3d layers inside Cs6 you can change IBL and GAL lights, change render proprieties, editing textures,,,.I bought a book , Adobe Photoshop Cs6 bible, and part VII Working with 3d images is on this theme, pp 757 to 838 but i am now at page 147 (it the first time i really go on the learning curve of Photoshop even i had CS3 and cs5)
Thank you martial!
Do you know if the 3D capabilities are limited to the CS6 Extended version only???
I do know and this may be something none of the people reading here knows or not, that you can create a complete scene in poser then convert it to a PZ3, open DS and import that PZ3 into DS and save it out as an OBJ file format!?! Then you can take it into say Bryce, or any software that can open an OBJ file!
Just a little tip.
Thank you again! Let me know about the regular or extended file handling.
HugZ!

I was wondering, I had heard that you can export a poser scene/character into CS5 and do some postwork/clean-up or additional effects.
Has anyone done this with success, could you explain a bit about this process?
Thank you all....
