Subject: Reflections

Is it possible to get real reflections on materials with out using BB Env Sphere?...or is there any other way of obtaining similar reflective results as with the sphere...but then again...with out the sphere.

I use Poser Pro 2012

thanks.

All you need is something(s) to reflect it doesn't matter what it is. Whatever the the eye should see should be there for it to reflect.

you can fake environmental reflections by attaching an image map to the reflection channel in the material room.

If you put a mirror in a room, it will only reflect the room.
If you put a mirror in an empty? There is nothing to reflect?

Any mirror can only reflect what is in front of it.
If there is nothing around it? What is there to reflect?

What i really meant is...is it possible to achieve the same **quality** reflections as with BB sphere...notice the render on the left was done using only IDL light with out the sphere...the one on the right was done with the sphere...notice the difference in quality...the one done with the BB sphere looks much more like real chrome then the one on the left which is done with out the sphere.

I really meant is it possible to get the same quality as with the sphere...but then again with out having to use the sphere.

thanks.

Isn't that what you are getting without the sphere?  As Vilter posted, you need an environment to reflect; it does not need to be a dome but it should be a complete enclosure like a room.  If you have nothing to reflect then it will look wrong.

I'm guessing you know nothing about the Sphere_Map node?

It is something lost in antiquity, a fabled item that predicts the world is round, but in a very flat manner.
