Suggestion Box F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 02 11:41 am)
This forum is designed for suggestions from the community on how you feel we can improve Renderosity.
The thread was locked since it was taking a nose dive. We don't block users from making posts, but we do take necessary actions concerning troublemakers.
If you were getting info from one of the members, you can always sitemail them and continue the conversation there..however this forum will not be where the conversation continues
Thanks!

The suggestion is to give moderators a means to block troublemakers from posting additional comments on a thread where they are misbehaving. They can post in other threads, but not the one they're blocked out of. People that want to kill a thread can get nastier to spur comments in kind that kill the thread--which seems to have happened here.
All moderators need is a link at the bottom of a post (where it says [quote] [print] [save]) for [block]. Maybe there needs to be a check box to indicate why the block is occurring for bad behavior or off-topic. I don't think a reason is needed. Most people will figure out why they got blocked from a thread.
Otherwise, you're letting the people with the least appropriate behavior dictate what topics are allowed to be discussed. The negative comments came in a lot hotter and heavier after the moderator threatened to close the thread. I'd suspect that's fairly typical.

I thought the Genesis thread I started got locked down before I got all the answers I was looking for. I was in the middle of writing a reply, to Rawnrr to ask him more questions since he's comfortable producing Genesis products, when the thread got locked. I'd also have liked to hear from more Rendo merchants as to why they're still making V4 content instead of switching to Genesis. It means the stores have more divergent customers than I expected. It's not surprising that DAZ Store customers are going to more readily support DS products. There are such slim pickings for Genesis here that it seemed deliberate that DAZ PAs weren't producing V4/M4 content. I didn't mind being proven wrong.
Personally, I'd rather see troublemakers blocked than posts locked. It tends to be the same people with abrasive personalities causing the trouble in most threads. I can understand a reluctance to block somebody from the forum as a last resort measure. It would be nice for moderators to have an intermediate step to simply block posters from a specific thread they're making unpleasant.
I made the post because I was curious about what I saw and haven't kept up enough in forums to be familiar with all the different things going on. I did ask, in the original post, that this not get embroiled in a software fight, but that unfortunately tends to happen. That's why it would be nice for mods to have a means to lock individuals out of threads when it's a subject that might be worth continuing, but those people simply can't avoid being testy or off-topic. They might be okay in other threads, but it's best keeping them out of the ones that they can't play nice in.
I bought close to a hundred items last week from the DAZ PC preview, so I have no beef with them. I don't think I said anything deliberately insulting against DAZ. The worst thing I said was that it was dumb releasing a barely functional website store that didn't even allow purchasers to download their purchased products. It would be hard to call it anything but that.
