Subject: Adobe Plugins and Poser in Mac OS 10.8

inquire ( ) posted Sat, 11 August 2012 at 7:03 AM · edited Tue, 30 July 2024 at 10:24 AM

This is a question to anyone who is using Mountain Lion (Macintosh OS X 10.8) and PoserPro2012 SR 2.1:

When I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.8, I then installed the Adobe Flash Player Plugin, which promptly disabled the new "Dictation" feature in 10.8. So, I uninstalled the plugin. Now, when I start PoserPro2012 SR 2.1, I have to run Library as an independent application. It won't run within Poser because it doesn't have the Adobe plugin. It's the LUGUISUIAIR plugin, or spelled someting like that. Would this plugin create any problems in Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)?

No seems to require the adobe air plugin, if you have trouble installing a plugin system preferences click on the general security and privacy lock to enable changes and allow applications from all

Right, it's the Adobe AIR plugin. What I'm wondering, though, and I guess only a Mac User with 10.8 could tell me, is if installing this plugin would work any havoc with the OS. The flash plugin, as I mentioned, disabled the "Dictataion" feature in Mail, Safari, TextEdit, and so forth. I had to remove the flash plugin in order to get "Dictation" to work again.

I guess I can deal with the Library running as a separate app. But, I'm hoping some Mac user can tell me what, if anything, to expect.

I work with an iMac 27 i7 with Mountain Lion poser pro 2012 and have not had any problem a test you can do is delete the file that is located in LibraryPrefs.xml user library preferences poser pro 9.
To view the library you have to click and hold down the Alt key on the go bar finder

Just upgraded my iMac 27 from Lion to Mountain Lion an hour or so ago.  PoserPro 2012 is working great as far as I can tell. Haven't done much with it except render a couple of saved scenes and used EZSkin.  Looking good so far.

let SM know if any issues. sr3 added support for ML, but not all users' experiences are identical.  word on the street: one or more of the adobe things may screw up dictation.

Absolutely! The Flash Plugin screws up Dictation. I had to uninstall it to get dictation to work. The AIR Plugin doesn't mess with Dictation. I don't know yet if it's messing with anything else.

What is the ML that SR3 added support for? Oops. OK, I get it. Mountain Lion. Well, the SR3 version of PoserPro2012 crashes and still causes Kernel Panics. Also, I've lost the use of the Morph Tool, which did work with SR2.1, SR2, SR1, and just plain old PoserPro2012. I have reported this to SM.

I could use dictation in TextEdit.  Will have to try another program to see if the Flash plugin screws it up elsewhere.  Oh, I did update Flash just a little while ago.  Maybe that helped?

Still trouble-free with respect to PoserPro 2012! :)
