Subject: Detaching shoe heels

It's quite easy to get a shoe in place by conforming it to the model.  But often times I'd like to detach the heel of the shoe from the heel of the foot.  You can see an example in the bottom right of this image.

I haven't figured out a good way to do this.  If I unconform the shoe to the foot then I need to manually move it back into place which seems like needless work.  Is there anyway to remove the conform but keep the shoe in place?  Or, is there just an easy way to do what I'm describing?

Load, conform, export as obj, delete figure, load obj. Comes right in at position and now it's not conformed.

That make sense.  Thanks!

Let you in on a secret: Been there. Done that. Burned the tee shirt!

Also smart prop the shoe to the TOE group, it will move with the foot but by bending the toe a bit will move away from the heel, as in that pic. One caution if you straighten the toe the heel of the shoe can pass thru the foot unless you have the limits reset to account for it.

Great idea, Letterworks! I never thought to do that!

That only works when the product creator offers the conforming shoes as seperate figures or if the shoe does not require straps to conform to the shin/thigh segments. Flats and flip flops and one piece sandals are good for that but strapped shoes and high boots are a nightmare!

Agree. You wouldn't use this technique on that sort of shoe, as the heels should not separate from the soles during walking.
