Subject: help with poser 7 sr3

skee ( ) posted Fri, 28 September 2012 at 7:47 AM · edited Tue, 30 July 2024 at 11:31 PM

I added the service release sr3 to my poser7 and now it will not let me use my extra

runtimes. Is there a fix for this? I know that poser7 is not used much anymore, but I

still like it. Thanks for any help.

skee.

It will not let you use them? You can't add them?

Or do you simply mean you did not read the install question that asked how you wanted to handle the preferences?

When you install Poser updates, for some reason that escapes me, the default, which is almost never what you want, is to reset your preferences (which includes the list of external runtimes) to factory initial state.

If you blew right past that then your problem is not that it won't let you, but rather that you gave it permission to forget them all. You'll have to add them back.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

I guess I went with the default, but now it will not let me add them. I get an error

message that they are not usable runtimes. I will try to restore the files I have in backup

of my computer. Thanks.

Are you selecting the folder above runtime? you do not select runtime otherwise they would all be called runtime.

The restore files for poser7 seemed to work, I will now have to reset all of my prefs.

By the way, are you always on the forum?  Thanks for your help. You always here to help.

Not always in the forum, but I am subscribed so that every new thread notifies me in near real time, and each reply to a thread I care about is also notifying me.

I have 1 desktop, 3 laptops, two iPads, and a Samsung Galaxy Tab, so I get email even in the bathroom.
