A man once said to me plants and especially flowers are sexual exhibitionists essentially biological whores. They exist displaying their sexual organs for any spore or flying creature to interact with. That being said. When you see this what do you think of? I'll give you my answer if you give me yours. =:-) > Bsteph

This isn't the first plant I've seen that strikes me that way....Some of Marshmallow's are beautifully sensual as well. I prefer not to think of them as tarts displaying their wares LOL, but rather beautiful indolent and very sensual creatures, sometimes vivid, sometimes soft and pastelly. Nature itself strikes me this way. A breeze is sensual...just stand there under a shaded tree, and feel a breeze blow onto your face and body, it is nature's carress. Syyd

Yes. I agree. Truthfully. I actually never see plants as "tarts". And yes this was in sort of a tongue and cheak (sp) reply to Marshmallow's post. Which I might as was far more sensual and truthfully better looking. I wanted to post something like this after the hubum died won though so here it is. Buy what were the conditions for the contest? Erm, I think I failed the test, Bsteph - I thought 'flower, flour, bread, food, hungry.'...... ....sorry, had to get a midnight snack! mmm... I challenge Leigh to a tummy-sizing competition!!!

I showed it ( the picture I mean ) to a friend the comment was "It looks small!" Gee. Tough crowd. However this friend thought Marshmallo's picture resembled a mouth!? Sorry Mjshepherd for making you hungry. Bsteph

There's another plant like this, except it is red, and has a big stem....I always thought it was very sexual. Look at the work of Georgia O'Keefe, her representation of flower as female genital to me, was overt, as beautiful as they are you cannot miss the reference.

I know the plant. To be perfectly honest. Those plants always reminded me of hears. I guess the red color and the petals seemes heart shaped to me. Regarding Georgia O'Keefe. I never really saw her work as sensual or overtly sexual. Although I believe you are right. There are a few where with the correct point of view... However the one which sticks in my mind is the one with a Dried Cow Head Bone and flowers. I never could get her point. Is it life and death, beauty and harsh reality? Any pointers for what am I missing? Besides it's hard NOT to look at an iris and not see something sexual when it is large enough. It's like looking at a sunflower and not seing a sun or a snapdragon and not seeing a face. Ok enough ranting. For what it's worth. To me this flower makes me think of two things. 1. I think of a flower with it's tongue stuck out. 2. Well I'll tell you tomorrow. Bsteph

For some reason looking at that plant makes me think of sweetcorn! But that's just my mind working in a somewhat mysterious way. I see your point though, and hey, I see a mouth in my rose-picture too...I'd never actually quite figured out exactly what made that picture seem so erotic, until bsteph (I think it was you?) said it's looking down a soft pink hole...then it dawned on me what I'd been seeing all the time without realising it! Hehe. Our sunbconscience works in a funny way doesn't it. Often I don't really realise exactly what I want to express with a photo until I have developed it and looked at it for ages. I'm afraid I've missed out on Georgia O'Keefe - heard the name but hardly seen any of the work. I'll do a search on the net, see what I've been missing out, or not missing out, on. And hey - Bsteph - by posting this as a reply to my photo you've made my day! I'm actually noticed and remembered! Wahey! :-))

No problem. You really should read your replys to you picture. Truely it was a beautiful picture. It is rare that the softness of the flower is captured in such a mooving way. Thank you for your post. Bsteph

Hehe, I do read my replies...I probably don't read enough into them though. I tend to think the worst of everything.

Thats the one Jack! Thats the one.... Funny about O'Keefe being married to Steiglitz, I remember reading that she buried herself in the desert with some very young man....I dont think it was him though...

I thought I heard about that. Wasen't he a fashion photographer? And this picture looks "worse" than mine. I think it's the red. The best part is that staimen is red on the tip!!! They still look like hearts to me. But the lily I posted regularly reminds me of baby corn ( I agree with Marshmallow ), a tongue, and...Drum roll please...a Carrot!! Yes they have always reminded me of carrots. However I can tell you from personal experience that they taste nothing like carrots and they can make you sick. However they don't taste disgusting. ( I ate some when I was a wee tike. Mom. My stomach hurts. =:-P > ) Sincerely, Brian Stephens
