Subject: Anyone know anything about creating nVidia 3D Vision images and video from Poser

MikeMoss ( ) posted Wed, 24 October 2012 at 11:33 AM · edited Tue, 19 November 2024 at 3:18 PM

Hi

My computer got fried by lightning, so I have a new really fast, computer on the way as well as a new 27" monitor with a 144 hz refresh rate.

I'm goinng to get the 3D vision kit and I want to see if I can create something in Poser that will work with it.

Anyone know anything about this?

Mike

Wish I did.  I have a Nvidia too & I've been dying to try out that feature.  Good luck in your quest.

Have a creative day!

Attached Link: Here's my crappy example

There's really not much that needs to be done. There are 3d imaging programs, I don't know of thier names but I use Sony Vegas instead. What I do is render an image then move the camera to the right a bit. Combine those two images in Vegas and output it as a 3d movie file. I can then see it on my 47" 3d tv. :D

Hi

Thanks for the input.

I've done a lot of 3D anaglyph images, and I'm looking forward to doing the nVidia 3D vision thing.

I guess what I'm really looking for is software that makes the images in the correct format for the nVidia system.

I'm not sure that the software I have won't do it, but with my computer fried I can't even check it out.

You might be interested to know that there is a script for poser both for Still Images and for Video that will position both cameras and automaticly save the left and right images.

I've used both and they work well.

It will be several weeks before my new computer is built, tested, and sent to me so I'm just trying to get a jump on how this is going to work.

Right now I can't even remember the name of the software I use.

I'm 74. LOL

I am looking forward to a week of getting every thing installed once the computer gets here.

Bye for now.

Hello Mike,

Just to be precise about the 3D vision kit.  If I understand, you will have the nVidia hardware installed in your future computer with the active shutter glass. Today, it is also possible to get other monitor technology to display 3D.

Hi Allstereo

Yes I already have the 3D Vision kit and my 144hz monitor is here too.

All I need now is my new computer which will be here in a couple of weeks.

It will have the nVidia 680 4 Gig Video card.

As you know I spent a lot of time messing around with Anaglyphs.

I finally got some pretty good results.

Now I want to see what I can do with the nVidia set up.

I still haven't gotten any real answers anyplace about how you convert stereo image pairs into an nVidia compatible image file.

It's going to take me a week or more to get my computer all set up, once that's done I'll dig into it with more effort.

I'm looking forward to both gaming and creating with it.

I'm also looking forward to having a 27" monitor.

This will be by far the most powerful computer I've ever worked on, I'm really looking forward to seeing what it will do with Poser animation.

I'm getting another Falcon NW computer similar but to the one I have but 3 years newer.  Things keep advancing.

It will have an i7 processor 3.6 ghz, 32 Gb 1866 ram, 690 4 Gig video card and two 1 TB Caviar Black hard drives. A fatality Pro sound card, 2 CD DVD drives and liquid cooling.

I'm interested in any form of stereo 3D technology any info is welcome.

One 3d vision page says... http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-photo-viewer.html ..the viewer uses .MPO files. These files are actually split pair JPGs. These are easy enough to break apart, use within poser, and render out as new static anaglyph's. Tutorial for that here.. http://www.poserdirect.com/concepts.html For 3D videos, try some dedicated software like MakeMe 3D. Augart 2D to 3D converter or Aiseesoft 3D Convertor. I use these for converting non 3D sources, like AVCHD/MP4, to anaglyphic MPG2. Which can be played on things like specialist hardware media players. Not tried them, but this is supposed to convert to .MPO.... http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/help/file_35.htm http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/help/file_09.htm BRW = Still got an old ELSA Revelator, which we got star trek Elite force, running on a few months back. So be interested to hear if the 3D vision system is any better.

Hello Mike,

I have checked the Stereo PhotoMaker and StereoMovie maker options, and apparently they had  the capabilites to create files compatible with nVidia hardware.

Hi guys.

If Stereo PhotoMaker and Stereo Moviemaker will do it that's good news.

I have used both of those, I would have figured that out if my computer was working.

I have found a few programs that do things with nVidia 3D Vision but I can't do anything to try them until I have a computer up and running.

Here's one of them, and there's a free trial so you can check it out...

http://www.movavi.com/videoconverter3d/?gclid=CMjqn_7CpLMCFelFMgodglIAqQ

I'm going buggy without my computer, I'm tired of watching TV.

I can't wait for the new one to show up.

Once I have everything up and running I'll come back and let you know how it works.

Reinstalling everything in my computer is going to be a big job.

I pulled the hard drives out of my old computer and plugged them into my wife's laptop using a USB converter and they are both readable.

I'll be able to plug them into my new computer and transfer all my data and Poser stuff.  Most stuff was backed up but I get lazy sometimes.

I was worried that I might have lost the stuff that wasn't backed up.

One of my external drives seems to have died, too!

I have 4, and everything is backed up on more then one of them.

Talk to you later.

Thanks for those links chaps. Not sure if this was the one, but giveaway of the day gave away something from movavi.com a while back. Thats often a good place to get nice stuff from. Mike - if you can still access your poser runtime on the USB external, it's easy enough to just dump the relavant folders onto your new box. Just don't copy every folder as poser sometimes get confused over different versions of scripts and stuff. Good thinking with the 4 drives as well, have you tried mirroring them ? Thats what I do with my 2 as well as disc backup. Since doing that not lost anything on my laptop. Though must admit you do have to force yourself and it's a pita to reinstall. BTW - If you've got a bad drive, and as long as theres no hardware damage. I've had good results with the free edition of this.. http://www.easeus.com/datarecoverywizard/free-data-recovery-software.htm Only a 1 GB recovery, but will tell you if it's worth getting the full version or not.
