Subject: A Fish! A Fish, I need a poseable fish!

shante ( ) posted Mon, 26 November 2012 at 6:38 PM · edited Fri, 06 December 2024 at 7:54 AM

I got one of the DZ fish in my cart but I am looking around for something else.

I looked in the freestuff here and couldn't find what I was looking for...a poseable fish that looks a bit realistic.I have many...Frozen in place ones from OUT THERE...but not much poseable ones for Poser.

Anyone have any ideas where there is a good FISH hole i can drop a line in!?  :)

Did you try CP?  I know we have an Ocean bundle, maybe there's a fish you can use in it or a link to a solo fish that will be suitable.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day,

Teach a man to model a fish and he spends 20 hrs on that, then 20 days on modelling a fishing rod, then 20 weeks modelling a 4 wheel drive vehicle and a cooler box complete with beer, and fishing tackle box, and then he gets a deep venous thrombosis in his leg, then it embolizes...

I aim to update it about once a month.  Oh, and it's free!

I know how that works except for the deep venous thrombosis in the leg estherau.

I was going to suggest CP but Teyon beat me to it.

I was going to direct you here which had loads of Poser compatable and poseable fish, but as you can see Mr Trout is no more. I thought about sending you some fishies, but the readmes says - "You may use this model only for your personal use. Please don't distribute it again." Sorry I can't help.

not posable but lots of fish here

shouldn't be too hard to use magnets to pose ?

Sad that Trout took down his Poser models. For the non-poseable ones, I've used the wave deformer to give them a bitt of wiggle. Getting their mouts open would be more of a problem.

I kina hoped this wouldn't go this way but I knew deep in my thrombosed unskilled "SELF" it would.  :)

I took advantage of the DAZ sale and got the Bass fish there. I wish the textures were also on sale but for now at least I have a fish hat at least looks like one and wiggles too.

I remember when Mr Trout first started creating his fish and fishing stuff for Poser which even included a rather nice stream bed modeland gear, I downloaded everything. Though I really couldn't think of how all the stuff would be used. So I know I have it...........somewhere in the pile...or deep shelves.....of hundreds of archived cds that go back to the beginning (P4). I just didn't have the heart to go back and look through them all. Come to think of it wasn't the Bass fish from DAZ also included in an early animal bundle a long time ago?

lmckenzie ( ) posted Tue, 27 November 2012 at 8:13 AM

I'm pretty sure there are free utilities to read the CDs and create a database that can be easily searched. Do a batch at a tine. Not much use having them if you can't find anything :-) Might be better to get a 1TB HD and copy them all over as I've heard that CDRs can go bad after a while.

Not sure if that is allowed to poserize .obj or .3ds meshes for Poser. That is a place I dare not venture.

As far as using Phil's tutorials:

I have been using Poser since version 4 and despite the plethora of work I have created with it (now in Version 7) I still can not comprehend the use of magnets and deformers, I still can not figure out the more intricate methods of texturizing etc using the advanced Material Room settings, I still can not get a handle on the hair room or the cloth room functions (which greatly reduce my creativity and productive growth with the application. I fail to read and understand and/or read and apply these functions in Poser. Never mind Poserizing anything!

I would have loved to learn Bryce and I have several free legal versions of it distributed by DAZ. I also have Hexagon, and Carrara etc. But a few times of trying to get into these apps and not being able to grasp the basics saw me giving up and deinstalling them.

I guess I get mentally thrombosed by it! Hell, most days i look at what I have created in Poser and Illustrator or PhotoShop and can't believe I even learned enough with these apps to have created the stuff i have. :)

I know to many who have read my pleas for help or assistance I sound pathetic or lazy or unwilling to get myself "Learned Good" in all this, I assure you I have tried and never able to accomplish the learning curve have given up.

Thanks. I got some of these and used them in a few of the renders of this series I am working on but I need the fish oin the renders to look somewhat alive as opposed to freeze dried static wall mounts. But thanks.

I was once in your shoes.  I ended up having to use a Daz fish from one of the Bear models that came out a year or so ago.  I even asked on PW for a posable model and had a photo of a rainbow trout for texturing.  :)

Yep got that fish installed and did use it but if i remember it had limited mobility. The bear is nice though i could not figure out how to use the hair room stuff.

Found three of JTrout fish and a Royloo fishie too. So installing now and movin on.

Thanks a for the help!

toucan had the above, may still be selling/giving it away.  with these fish poses, it's really basic: mouth open/close, body bend left/right, tail bend left/right.  excepting the mouth, one applies the poser wave deformer to any of toucan's fish.3ds to get the tail/body poses.  his carp looked like this:

Just for the record, you know Poser comes with a posable fish.

Jules53757 ( ) posted Wed, 28 November 2012 at 11:51 AM

Give a man a fish and he will have food for one day.

Teach him how to fish and he will sit the whole day in a boat drinking beer.

Really? I didn't know that. I did a search for fish and foundonly those I recently installed I mentioned above. I did find the BASS fish and assumed it was one I got from DAZ as part of an animal bundle and it does look like the DAZ BASS so I canceled my order for it yesterday and using the credit toward the great textures for it. Now I am wondering if it is indeed the same fish!?  :(

Where do I find the fish you mention? I use P7 and there were no fish in the P7 Character folder nor in the Content Paradise folder.

I remember downoading this a while back and tried finding it again but typing FISH into the search engine there gave me NO Results? It isn't exactly what I was looking for but if there were no others found I would have settled. But thanks for the heads-up and the link!

THat isn't exactly the way it was in the Bible was it?  LOL

No, but it sounds like more fun.....if only I could still drink beer!  :(

shante, it's the old poser angelfish, dating back to P4 IIRC.

tsquare, thx fr lnk.  as downloaded, it has toucan's original object and wild-type texture (one-sided 3ds bmp file), but no koi textures.  it has no morphs (e.g. mouth), but the body has been grouped, hence this allows body bending but no fin movement.

Oh, yeah, yeah! I remember seeing that and I guess I didn't like it because i seem to have filtered it out. Amazing what an unfriendly tool one's mind can be!  But thanks for the heads-up. I am going to put all my fishies in the same folder now for next time!
