Subject: Wardrobe Wizard

Nukeboy ( ) posted Fri, 30 November 2012 at 12:18 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 4:53 PM

I've been playing around with Poser 9 for a few weeks and finally decided to try the Wardrobe Wizard.  When I clicked on WW in the Scripts menu, I got a dialog box that presented this:

C:Program FilesSmith MicroPoser 9RuntimePythonposerScriptsPhilCWardrobe Wizard P9 Log file: C:UsersPublicDocumentsPoser 9 ContentRuntimePythonposerScriptsPhilCWardrobe Wizard P9ww.log

I checked the directory and both locations exist (with what looks like all the right scripts, etc.)  but the Wizard doesn't run.

I run Windows Vista, which I know has lots of issues, so I tried to grant all access to these folders, but to no avail.

I also tried it on an XP machine with the same result.

I've also installed the latest service pack (3.1,I think?)

Any ideas?  I've had similar problems with the AdvShader Launcher - Dry shader launcher works, Toon shader launcher displays similar error window.

Are you running Poser as the administrator? Being the only person to use the computer does not guarantee that you are logged in as the administrator. You need to run as the administrator.

In what way does Wardrobe Wizard not run? What do you see? What did you expect to see?

If required right click the text error message, then select all and copy, then paste into post.

LOL, did you also notice that the scripts menu changed to wardrob e wizard items?

I'm not running as Administrator on Vista, so I'll give that a try, however, I got the same error on Windows XP.  When I clicked on Wardrobe Wizard, a dialog box popped up displaying the text (as noted above):

C:Program FilesSmith MicroPoser 9RuntimePythonposerScriptsPhilCWardrobe Wizard P9

Log file: C:UsersPublicDocumentsPoser 9 ContentRuntimePythonposerScriptsPhilCWardrobe Wizard P9ww.log

That's all that happened.  So, technically not an "error" message, per se.  I did not get the WW menu as described in the Poser Reference Manual.

Did you run it from the scripts drop down or from scripts menu

Run from the Scripts drop down.  from where else would you run a script (just don't know)?

Ran as "Administrator" (right click on icon, left click "run as Administrator").  Same thing happens....

Didn't know about the "Window" drop-down.  Interesting, seems to work!  Curious, though, why does Wardrobe Wizard run from clicking "Python Scripts" and not some other python script?  Is there a special folder?  I have ShaderWorks scripts, but they don't appear in the "Window" drop-down...

Thanks for this!

LOL when you tried to run it before, it loaded the menu for you.  If you had just brought up the menu it would have had other items on it including wardrobe wizard.

Have  fun

I spoke too soon.  It worked on the XP machine, but got the same message on the Vista machine.  God I hate Vista.  Fortunately, I don't have much need for WW, but it would be cool to have.  I think I'm just more p*** that I have these script issues.

Guess I'll just open a problem report with Smith Micro.

Its not an error message.

The Poser reference manual page 537 states:-

....... then open the Python window to view the Wardrobe Wizard button menu shown below.

(See the page for the image)

The text that you have been posting indicates that you have started the script correctly and it is running. What happens when you follow the next step given in the instructions, namely opening the Python window?

Poser top menu Window > Python Scripts

The text window is not the Python Script window.

By all means please do post a copy of any error messages but so far there have not been any.

Gotcha!  I must have missed the part of opening the python window after running the script, I was waiting for it to pop up on it's own.

Thanks all!
