Looking for a Noir period police uniform (30s to 50s)?

All I can find so far is modern or sexy police girl stuff.

Sorry, can't help mate.

Would also be interested.

And does anybody know where I can get a UK copper?

Old school Dixon Of Dock Green would be best.

Daz has "Real Life Heros: Police" in their store. Pretty much a standard police uniform versions  for M3H3 and M4/H4 as well as Hiro and V4. Poserworld also has a "US police officer" for M3.

The Real Life Heros: Police etc are nice but too modern forthe period I'm after.

You didn't specify which country.  Now it is clear that it is USA in origin.  I haven't seen anything remotely familiar.  The first post shows the winter overcoats.

monkeycloud ( ) posted Sun, 09 December 2012 at 9:57 AM

Yeah would be interested in finding that kind of style of uniform, from that period, myself too...

nobodyinparticular ( ) posted Sun, 09 December 2012 at 3:33 PM

Now I see what you mean. I don't think I've seen the jackets with the double row of buttons. I will look. Also need to find an outfit with the infamous Sam Browne belt.

mouser ( ) posted Mon, 10 December 2012 at 5:23 AM

Apologies for not mentioning the country, when I think of Noir cop/gangster films I think of old Chicago;)

Redfern ( ) posted Mon, 10 December 2012 at 9:14 AM

If you are willing to use Micheal 3, DAZ sells a set called "MovieStars".  One of the items is labeled a "cleric's coat", but it has that double column of buttons just like the police depicted in your second photo.  Its length can be varied.  You'll have to find a hat elsewhere, but it should get you started.

I'd provide a direct link to the product, but DAZ is blocked by the office firewall.

Bill

Do a thorough search for the proper uniform for the region you are interested in reproducing.  The uniforms vary by both color and style.

The coat may work, thanks for the good spot.

Know what you mean about office firewalls;)

Redfern ( ) posted Tue, 11 December 2012 at 7:04 AM

Glad to be of service.  I bought that set for the "cleric's coat" and applied a shiny black leather material, thus turning it into a reasonable version of a lab jacket for Davros, creator of the Daleks.

Sincerely,
