Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 03 1:41 pm)
Quote - I'm not sure if this is the fault of the one of many morph packs I've got loaded, but I'm having some difficulty with my figure getting deformations in the body when I am only working in head morphs. While I had previously morphed the body of this figure, there were no issues like this. Since loading my character with an existing body morph and working only on the head, I'm getting this.
Anyone else have this issue?
This is one of the many wonderful features of Poser PRO.
What figure is it? M4, V4?
This is one of the many wonderful features of most software, it will do exactly what you tell it to do.
If for example you accidentally have a belly morph dialed in at the time when you are trying to generate a face morph it will include it if you ask it to generate a full body morph. How can Poser know that you did not intend to do include the belly section?
Check that the rest of the body is at absolute zero before creating a new body morph, unless you want some combination of those morphs to be included in your new one.
Generally when I post a reply I find it best to learn how to use new software and offer helpful solutions rather than post snide remarks about it.

I have the same problem he has with V4 & M4 occasionaly. But before I can offer help I need to know what figure that is. I can't tell so I asked.
The snide remarks will never stop until Poser actually becomes professional. I don't understand why people take it personally. This is business man, no emotion. Keep emotions out of it.

Read my thread above. I asked the OP what model he was using. Since you can't read you wasted more thread space by asking your dumb question.
This is my original post. I have the same problem and I was trying to find a correlation:
Some FMB's on V4 stop affecting the hip. Any fix?

What figure is it? M4, V4?
PhilC, currently I am tweaking settings of existing morph packs that I already had loaded into V4. I'm getting this just from changing settings with the head selected.
Admittedly, I do have a lot of different morph packs loaded in the figure, including S4, Morphs++, Ultra Aging Morphs, NPM etc etc. Maybe they don't like each other. But I've had them in for a while. I don't remember this thing happening until recently (the latest service pack?).

I have run into that before, and if it is just one morph it is sometimes fairly easy to correct. Sometimes it is a complete mess to correct.
If one moprh is doing it, zero all the morphs in the character, dial the morph that messes with the hip to one. Export the morph from just the body part it is supposed to affect somewhere you can find it.
Name it whatever the internal name of that morph actually is, you may have to do some digging to find that out.
Delete the morph from both locations in the character.
Re import the morph you exported back into the character, using the exact same name as it was before.
If there are tons of dependencies or it is a full body morph you may have to set up a new master channel for it.
If it involves lots of morphs, it can be more work than it is worth to correct.
Some things are easy to explain, other things are not........ <- Store -> <-Freebies->
Yeah, the problem is that I have no idea which morph is causing the issue (I only suspect it's being done by a morph). Heck, I don't even know which morph SET to point to.

what if you made the head morphs inti .fc2 files?

Well, I was trying to isolate the head, yeah. To be honest, though, I don't want to really try to track down and load every single one of those morph packs. I was hoping to export the head as an .obj file, but of course what happens when that is attempted is the head just get exported as plain ol' V4. Not sure if there's a way around that.

Well, learn something new all the time. That seems to have worked. :) I don't think it's identical though; in combing through I think I missed a morph pack to load.

check you don't have export as morph target checked in the export options.

Yeah, I did.
Er... are you saying I shouldn't have?
Would definitely have preferred that way--much simpler and cleaner, and since I'm not redistributing, it doesn't matter that I'd be eliminating the morph packs that got me to the shape I wanted.

export as morph target will export 'a plain ole v4'.
or it did in the old posers.
when exporting head morphs to bake into one morph, you may also need the neck morphs and occasionally, eyeballs.
cheers

oh, I recall the issue now: every time I tried to export the head and reimport as morph, I got an incorrect vertex error.

are you selecting only head body part?
meaning, not lower jaw, not eyes, etc.
you would do her neck separately.
there's a new way to do it for the new poser, cuz it does morphs across body parts. surely there's a tutorial here somewhere.

I tried it both ways (selecting head only, selecting head with other parts). But my assumption is it should be head only.
