Subject: PPro 2012/Vue 11 Complete integration?

WoolyLoach ( ) posted Fri, 18 January 2013 at 2:33 PM · edited Thu, 19 December 2024 at 5:48 PM

Ok, I'm a PPro 2012 user and I've been drooling over the landscapes I've seen done in Vue 11.

I see that Vue 11 and PPro 2012 are supposed to work togeter, but.. how well?

Anyone have any experiences, opinions, etc.?  I'd love to put poor Vicky into an inhospitable jungle!

I have both haven't done any moving between them yet been busy building some models. I'll try later I'm setting up a waterfall in realflow  and an erupting volcanoe in houdini want to see if I can integrate these two first. then I'll see what happens with a poser model sitting under the waterfall and how the water breaks and spashes around her. I've got a few hours work yet. If someone hasn't gotten back to you I'll try it a little later busy right now.

I just pulled up their page because I didn't remember anything about poser

http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_11_xstream/

it does mention 3ds max maybe that was what I was thinking since I have a lot of models for that.  I'll see if there is anyway to do it later.

I run both and they integrate pretty well. Recommended.

First you have to tell Vue where to find Poser and which SDK to use (Options, General tab). Then you can import Poser scnes into Vue, in various ways.

In the static way, all figures are taken as is but in the dynamic way you can repose everything, and actually do Pose Room through Vue: all the dials are there.

Second, you can choose whether to use the Vue materials handler (Poser materials are translated to proper Vue equivalents), or to use the Poser materials tree itself.

I'm not very good at the intricate details yet (like setting gamma in Poser and rendering in Vue, or the effects of Poser specifics like SSS), but the basics run pretty well.

Do note that when using the "dynamic" import and the Poser materials tree, you're actually running Poser and Vue together on the same scene when rendering. So you do need the RAM and CPU in your machine to handle that.I have not tried multiple Poser scenes in combination with massive Ecosystems yet, but I'm learning too.

Also do note that Vue is meant for outdoor vegetation rich scenes, and is not very good in portraying character close-ups. This is the reason for products like SkinVue, which improve on human skins when shooting close-ups.
PS: e-on recently had a Digital Environment Competition, with a special Characters section this year. The results might give you some impression of what can be done.

have fun!

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.

visit www.aRtBeeWeb.nl (works) or Missing Manuals (tutorials & reviews) - both need an update though

Make sure you install Poser Pro 2012 32 bit as well as 64 bit or Vue will get confused.
