I recall the one your talking about, I used it twice then started playing with in photoshop and managed to create my own look for hair.
The hair in this render has be done free hand with the mouse.
if it helps, in CS6 if you right click on brushes there are 3 options and the 3rd one is quite useful if you put a blob of some other colour on the hair and paint with it.
max, I'm curious. what was your own look you developed for hair. can you post some links or pics here?

There was a tutorial that I saw last year sometime about how to paint hair in Photoshop... I remember it used noise and wind filters somehow...
My computer crashed along with all my bookmarks... I was wondering if anyone knows the site.
