Subject: Victoria 2 problems

tbenner ( ) posted Tue, 02 April 2013 at 6:31 PM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 9:58 AM

I'm using Poser pro 2010 on a Win7 puter and I installed my old Victoria 2 files.  I had to map all the materials onto Vicki since she only came in with diffuse colors.  Everything went find except for the eyebrows, no matter what I do they stay the diffuse color.  If I load in a texture map of just red color though, the eyebrows will turn red, so it almost sounds like the uv coordinates are off for some reason.

Anyone else have this problem, or know what the solution is?

Thanks

V2 has an eyebrow 'mask' that sits on top of the face surface.  You need to either make it invisible in the hierarchy or transparent in the material settings.

I could be wrong, but I think I recall a dial on V2 for eyebrow gone that will eliminate that so that you can use a texture with painted on eyebrows.  I'm just not positive as its been about 4 months since I last used her for anything.

Online Now!

V2 has two eyebrow materials: "Eyebrows", which are part of the head mesh and use the painted on eyebrows of the head texture, and an "UpperEyebrows" overlay which uses transmapped eyebrow textures.

You can use both or any one of them.

To use both, your head texture needs painted on eyebrows and you need a matching transmap for the upper eyebrows. Very few V2 texture sets had that.

To use only the eyebrows, you simply make the upper eyebrows fully transparent or use the "BrowsGone" morph you find among her head morphs. This is how most V2 textures are set up.

To use upper eyebrows only, you need of course a transmap and a head texture without painted on eyebrows. This is very useful if you want to easily change the eyebrow color of your figure.

V4 has the same forhead overlay but I've never seen any vendor product use it either.

The 'Eyebrow Gone' Head parameter does the trick for V2.  I still use the old gal myself ;).

Best Wishes,

A big thanks to everyone who helped!  I used the 'BrowsGone' dial on the head and this did the trick.

there was in the Aiko 4 complete bundle. It was nice, cuz it was easy to change eyebrow color.  can't remember the name now.

iirc, Sydney has a transmap eyebrow mask in her materials folder. i remember using it to give her blonde eyebrows.
