Subject: Back

Hi folks,

I've been off the map for the past several months...

Part of that was a move to Europe followed by a string of misfortunes including getting stuck in Montenegro, culminating with being burglarized and losing all of my posessions (the weekend before getting insured).

I'm going  to have to go back and re-do a lot of my works in progress - I do keep cloud backups but due to having very spotty internet I haven't been able to back up the past few months of work -- a lot was lost with my laptop.

So my sincerest apologies for not getting back to everyone as quickly as usual.  I need a week or two to get back up and running again.

Cheers,
-Gabriel

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I was just using Tyler and Anastasia in a render a few days ago, and thought of you. I have big plans for your characters in  the new fitting room, including Irina. Best of luck in your new abode, and thanks for all you have done.

Glad to hear you are ok, sounds like quite an adventure.

Do they have reindeer and grizzly's in Montenegro?

How terrible they took your stuff but how wonderful you are back.  You have long been one of my heroes in Poser work.

Welcome back ;)

That's a bugger, getting burgled.

Glad to hear you're bouncing back... of course...

...they couldn't steal your talent.

On that... how about GND R&R then?

colorcurvature ( ) posted Mon, 03 June 2013 at 10:17 AM

Welcome back.

Did you try tracking the laptop based on automatic login or other means?  There have been various stories related to stolen apple devices but no idea whether these were true or not...

Blackhearted ( ) posted Tue, 04 June 2013 at 2:23 AM · edited Tue, 04 June 2013 at 2:27 AM

Thanks :P GND R&R? I'm a bit behind: I still have V4 and Anastasia content I haven't released :P As for tracking - i have tracking apps on my phone and tablet but never expected to lose my laptop since it typically stays at home (was a heavy 17" desktop replacement for work). I'm from a small town in Canada, I'm not used to this theft/burglary/crime sh*t. I'm used to leaving my doors unlocked all day, my fishing gear, kayak/paddle or bike out on the front lawn, my car unlocked and windows down when I go shopping, etc. Its a different world here: they even steal potted plants from peoples windowsills. They'll steal the stones from guardrails or the cobblestones from the streets. While central Europe braces for the flooding people are even stealing metal flood defenses. I've been educating myself since it happened, and am taking steps to secure my place against this happening again -- unfortunately my door is a 10 foot double-wing affair which complicates things. I can't just install a steel security door like you could with a typical door.

So sorry about your news Gabe... anything I can do to help, just call.

Btw, I can sort you a nice hair for Anastasia, or two... let me know if you need something from my store ;)

And go back to work asap, the markets miss you ;)

I am so sorry to hear about this. I hope things get better soon, and I look forward to seeing your new stuff for Anastasia.

Get a big dog.  We have in the past had several retired British Police German Shepherd Dogs from the Northumbria Force - the best burglar deterrent bar none.  We now have three wolf lookalike males; they would love to meet a burglar!  I'm not saying that's a human bone in the picture of Samson* above, but you get the idea...

Unreleased V4 content? Sign me up!

  • Ex firearms and public order dog, with two medals for bravery in the line of duty.  Won the UK national police dog trials 2 years running.  8 stone and lived to be 15; what a boy!  He would have sorted your burglars out.

My self-build system - Vista 64 on a Kingston 240GB SSD, Asus P5Q Pro MB, Quad 6600 CPU, 8 Gb Geil Black Dragon Ram, CoolerMaster HAF932 full tower chassis, EVGA Geforce GTX 750Ti Superclocked 2 Gb, Coolermaster V8 CPU aircooler, Enermax 600W Modular PSU, 240Gb SSD, 2Tb HDD storage, 28" LCD monitor, and more red LEDs than a grown man really needs.....I built it in 2008 and can't afford a new one, yet.....!
