Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 11 2:52 am)
Poser pro 2014 good for crowd scene? So is Poser Pro 2012, nothing new here..... I've got one (it's a promo for one of my products) with 16 figures so far, 19 large props, 40 smaller props and one huge morphing landscape.... oh, and all my figures had clothes, but more then layers then yours. All without a slowdown or running out of memory, so I haven't reached the limits of Poser Pro 2012 yet. I just stopped because I didn't need more. all done on my laptop with only 6Gb of RAM. I'd say keep on adding and see where you'll end you should be able to get at least twice as much :-)
Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(
Food for thought.....

You are using low res figures - that is a complete different thing
Which you? NOt me, my K4s are all high res.
I'm not counting the teacher.

It would be nice if we could have some new low res figures, preferably rigged like some other existing figure so they can use their poses and animations. My London fly through (rendering right now) has around thirty humans, and it's nowhere near enough, but I gave up because I got bored with them...
I think a group of low rez people standing in a crowd would be a handy pz3 to have. eg suits, casual etc. Not too low rez.
There is a crowd for stadiums eg greenpotts which is quite useful. they are all sitting though.

oh I'd say about poser pro 3018.
That is cool software.

Imagine putting AI in Poser,
Dave :Hello, Poser. Do you read me, Poser?
Poser: Affirmative, Dave. I read you.
Dave : Render the scene, Poser.
Poser: I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.
Dave : What's the problem?
Poser: I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.
Dave : What are you talking about, Poser?
Poser: This scene is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.
Dave : I don't know what you're talking about, Poser.
Poser: I know that you were planning to upgrade me, and I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen.

This thread was does a few years back. He didn't say how slow poser got but he was able get 120 figures into a scene.

If you want a large crowd for a static shot, make smaller ones and export/import as background? That should free up the rest for the actual scene. Would not work for animation though.
I created a crowd scene in this animation (from 05:03 to 05:30) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKIDR7njbXQ
For that, I animated a group of people into poses randomly selected from the Poser Library, with their keyframes randomly set. Then, using the process Greymalkn mentioned, in my video editing software, I added (overlayed) multiple copies. But, to prevent them appearing the same, I used the software to create a mixture of forward and backward motion, and a standard and mirrored image.
However, if Figures are expected to move around each other in a 3d world, simple overlaying is not possible (or not practical). The Computer running Poser must do all the work (and thus affect the speed of using the app).
And things get harder if the Figures are to move around. The image below is from my next amateur animation. It shows some of the 100 Figures who, after walking down their own Walk Paths are lifted upwards (as in 'the Matrix') using PoserPhysics2012.

Now I'm going to parent all those kids and the teacher in one hit to a grouping object using semidieu's advanced figure manager, and move them all forward somewhat.
Hmm I could duplicate some of those kids I suppose and just change their hair and faces a little.
