Long term Carrara artists will have solved this for themselves already in one of two ways. Indeed the solution is on the old archived forum.

However I couldn't find a video on it, plus if you watch my video the approach I'm taking is quick and you get to keep a vertex object at the end of the procedure.

I hope I save someone some of the pain I went through before coming across the solution.

Yep, I've had to resort to this quite a few times over the years. Thanks for the movie. I covered it in one of my series also.

Could you send me a link to your series? Always happy to learn more.

Thanks!

I've done a couple over the years. The last version of Carrara improved the core functionality (like render times) of the program but didn't really add much 'new' to the program so I didn't do a new one for v8.

Choose whatever suites you. Plus I have a bunch of advanced tuts on my site – and haven't made any new ones recently. I'll have to play again...

wowie!

That's a whole load of tutorials. Very impressive. The syle is good too, professional and about the right pace.

Can I ask how long have you been involved with Carrara and 3D as a whole?

Ha! Since Carrara was Ray Dream Studio - 1999.

That's a whole lot of 3D experience right there!
