Hi Guys,

I hope you are still wanting me to post progress pics here as I have not seen a whole lot of comments on the last couple sets.

So if you want me to stop posting here just let me know, and I will knock it off. :-)

This set is another innovation in that it is the first in a few transition blocks from business to residential.

Also this set is getting 7 identical track homes that will have several material options to give variations to the color schemes.

Then you can have block after block of the same home like you see sometimes...

I am thinking that the next few sets will have the alley in the same location so you can do long shots on the alleys as well.

As you can see there is a roller skating rink along with 6 other business buildings that are set apart with about 6 foot walkways spaces between several of them for some suspence scenes.

This brings the total to 14 separate buildings that may be used in other scenes. You just need to save them as separate props.

As always this is just a test render done in 3D Studio Max so keep that in mind. The materials will most likely change a lot as I fine tune this set along with the modeling.

Hope you like it and if you want me to post more images please leave a brief comment so I know you are watching.

Tom

By all means keep posting! (Check ur merchant report... I buy almost every set! And this sort of post lets me plan for what is coming!)

This is the most useful set of Poser scenery out there imho. I welcome more sets and am amazed at your creativity. It keeps giving me ideas of what to do with the characters and stories I create!

KEEP POSTING!

DreamlandModels ( ) posted Fri, 09 August 2013 at 4:25 PM

Thanks man, it is comments like these that give me the push to keep going, even when my brain says no, not another minute.

Hope to mave this set done before the end of the month.

I want to see what is coming. I love all your models.  I wish your scenes were more contemporary but they still do for some parts of the world.

Love esther

PS you are a great modeller. Keep up the good work!!!!

MY ONLINE COMIC IS NOW LIVE

I aim to update it about once a month.  Oh, and it's free!

The entire set accurately captures small town America to the "T". Other artists have created the "Big Cities." This is the sort of town where I grew up, and this is the only set out there that has attempted to do so!@ I'm a REAL FAN! :)

Hi Guys,

Here is another look. Changed the Hotel into a pub. Must be the Irish in me.

3Dave I still have a hammer left from my days in construction, just in case you need it.

Online Now!

The row of buildings in your first picture reminds me on a Fort in the West. Do you have any intentions to model a block for Military use or some kind of barracks? I really need a 'home' for my tanks and trucks... ;-)

And yes, please keep new renders comming up, I always search for the latest thread of your blocks!

My own opinions are, the meshes are simplicity itself. There seem to be no wasted verts! The textures are (I think!) where the true magic occurs, because they have the most amazing detail of any environments I know of out there!

The thing that simply blows me away is the mind behind these sets... the ability to see a world that is this flexible and this atmospheric and this PERFECT... then go model and texture it!

My hat is in my hands out of respect for my betters.

Hi Guys,

Almost done in 3D Studio Max and ready for export to Poser. Hope to release by next weekend. :-)

Thanks for all the nice comments, especially you basicwis!

Don't think I have ever had as nice a comment as yours. Totally made my year.

Here is another look. Modeling is almost done. Few more do dads here and there, time will tell. At least all the buildings are fleshed out to their generals shapes.

piersyf ( ) posted Sat, 24 August 2013 at 9:35 PM

I love your work, and I know you are representing 'small town America', but if I have a criticism it is the same I level at vehicle developers; not everyone lives in America. Your scenes would work just as well for several regional towns in Australia, exept having to reverse all the road markings, lights, signs etc. Simply having them deletable so I can add them as props (in the correct locations/facings) would significantly expand the usefulness of the product.

I wish people would make right hand drive cars too... I have mesh mirror software but it also reverses car logos, reverses exhaust, and reverses the dash (which is not accurate, the dash is simply ported across).

DreamlandModels ( ) posted Sat, 24 August 2013 at 10:09 PM

piersyf,

If you want to make the arrows go away just apply the Road Plain to the Road Turn Both and the Road Left materials on the roads.

(1) Select the road in the materials editor

(2) Save the Road Plain material as a single .mc5 file

(3) Select the Road Turn Both in the materials drop down and apply the material you just saved

(4) Repeat the process for the other zone

(5) Done

Then at least you can drive on the wrong side of the road. :-)

Sorry I can't do more for you but it is all I can do to get one of these products done in a month.Literally thousands of details to keep track of, so as you can see it is simply too much for me to add more to the process.

Hope you understand. And thanks for being a loyal customer. :-)

Another lovely set Tom :-) I'm on hols in Catalonian France right now... fairly offline and out of reach of Poser... but managed to put this through the checkout anyway, ready for my return... keep 'em comin' ;-)

As always, the realism and perfection both of theme and execution are there!

Well done!

Thank you guys!

17 started very look here.

Can't figure out why a $4,000.00 program like Max does a crapy job on displacement. That is why the grass and flowers look so bad in these test renders.

Any way this set is another track house transition set like sixteen. Might do one after this one to round things out a little.

Three siding zones this time around, on the homes.

Will have about 6 - 8 comercial buildings. I think.

The great part about my job is I get to make it up as I go along.

The hard part is keeping an overall theme, all the way through City Block Eighty One. :-)
