Subject: Advice On Making Shoes - Boots For Dawn

paganeagle2001 ( ) posted Wed, 28 August 2013 at 10:00 AM · edited Thu, 17 October 2024 at 6:45 PM

This is a very simple one.

I want to make some shoesboots for Dawn, but.....

Do I model them with Dawn's feet flat (easy for Boots with low heels) or do I model them with Dawn's fett at a set angle (for those with high heels)?

The reason I ask is not for the modelling phase, but the rigging phase.

Obviously if Dawn feet are at an angle, the main Dev rig for her won't work correctly as the feet in the rig are flat.

So, if I did a pose of Dawn at the correct foot angle and saved it, could I use this as a donor rig?

I have Lyrra's Dev pack and would like to use the shoe options within it.

All the best.

I dont model, but I have been very successful in converting shoes to dawn using the fitting room so that information may help.

when converting I fit the shoes to Dawn with IK off, default postion.  when everything right, I go to fitting room, and create a figure without using the fit option.  that will take care of donor  rig/grouping.

Here is an example using Tool Girl boots fitted to dawn.
