Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 15 11:01 am)
How big is the scene you're rendering? What props are you using? Any complex shaders? Do you have anit-malware running?
There are lots of reasons why your system may be getting hung up- and, sometimes, it can be a lack of patience on the user's end. Don't click in the screen while it's running, you can actually lock it up yourself by "checking" it constantly.
Try not to run processor intensive programs while you render- the CPU may try to split the power between the programs and Poser may end up losing that battle.
try rendering just Andy in the scene, with the standard lights already in the scene when you open PP2010. Does it render without problems? Ok- if so, try going larger in the render size/resloution- like A4. (2480x3508 pixels, 300 dpi) If no issues, fine. Try putting props in like M4, a room, car, clothes, etc.
Trial and error- and check your log in the Help tab, you may get a hint at what's going on in there.
Do you render in separate process? It can help.
If so, check the task manager and look for Firefly.exe. If it keeps using more and more memory, it's still doing something even if Poser may report "not responding".
And as DarwinsMishap said, you can actually trigger it yourself by clicking the Poser screen :) Try starting the render and then go to bed/work and take a look some hours later :)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
after i went on to windows 7 I found this happening a lot in poser 2012 then poser 2014 and vue 10 . Lots of looking around on the internet seemed to point the finger at windows 7 being a bit too keen to say a program was not responding when it was just a bit busy.None of the so called fixes did anything and the best answer I found was as others have said leav it alone when it says not responding and eventually it will start to respond again
The first thing I would do is go and delete out what is in your Poser temp folder.
You can check where this is on the EditGeneral Preferences option and then the Misc Tab.
Go into that folder and then delete everything. If you have never done this befiore you will find you may have gigs of temp files in there.
What may have happened is that one of the files you are using has set a temp file that has become corrupted and so it hangs.
You cannot do any damage to your system by deleting the files in that folder.
All the best.

hello
Could you help please.
I am running Poser Pro 2010 on Windows 7, I am a amateur user.
After running Poser Pro 2010 for a year or so it has just started hanging up whilst rendering.
Example
I start the program and without loading any scene or figure render.
It seems to start to rendering and then stopped responding,
Computer says Poser Pro stopped responding.
I have set my render settings back to default and render dimensions to fit screen.
Same, problem
Any help with this appreciated.
Thanks
