Subject: Poser 4 Renderer

Hi everyone,

I had a question about the Poser 4 renderer. I have an old P7, and was actually impressed with the P4 renderer. Although it doesn't have fancy stuff like raytracing, it yields a good image than the standard Firefly renderer with no raytracing (with the anti-alias feature activated). Since some light setups take FOREVER to render with raytracing, I found the P4 renderer a good compromise on certain projects. However, I notice that a times it causes Poser to freeze. What is this due to? Also, I notice that it picks up details like the strands of hair, or the textures of clothing, much more sharply than the Firefly renderer. Is there a way to tweak Firefly so it gets the same level of detail?

Thanks!

Can you post your image so we can see?

I get my cues by watching the render happen, and see where in the image it starts getting hung-up. Hair, as well as eyes seem to be slug-it-out times depending on what type of shader setting was used.

So, I'd watch the render next time, see where it starts stuttering, then see what shader settings were used on that part, and maybe re-adjust that shader to be more Poser 4 friendly.

As for getting the effect you want in Firefly, thats why a image post to reference would help.
