Subject: 40's and 50's retro hair and fashions.

Rather than just make a plaintive cry for stuff, I'd like to embellish my suggestion with facts and some research.

During studies for my second degree (now partially retired on a nice pension and persuing some goals) I took a sociology class and did a paper on baby boomers (like me!) and the recent interest in retro everything.  Take a look through eBay and watch the auctions for advertisements from the 40's and 50's.  The lingerie ads are particularly hot.  Actual vintage fashions and reproductions are quite popular.  Bullet bras sell very well and girdles are once again popular.  Those old hairstyles are now seen on the street and vintage cars are gaining in price and popularity.  The 46 year old British roadster  I've hung onto for 46 years (bought her new) is now worth more than my house!

Clearly this is a serious phenomenon.  Us boomers are the most affluent generation to date and we're spending our money.  The young kids may be hanging around the torrent sites and those sleazy Russian warez sites but folks like myself are smart enough AND educated enough to know that if we want the products we love, we have to BUY them.

...and we do.

I belong to many Poser forums and it's clear that there are a lot of us older poops in them.  We have the time and money to indulge ourselves and smart content creators would be wise to cater to us.  I'm calling for some of those gorgeous hairstyles from that era.  Most of the available stuff is so redundant it's a wonder they bothered.  Similarly, how about some retro lingerie...bullet bras and various girdles...maybe some long negligees?  There are a few scant items but many are not very well done.  I bought a retro bullet bra recently but was dissapointed.  There was no hardware, the textures where basic and he'd not included a morph to make the breast fit the bra.  It looked ridiculous when a sheer texture was applied.  When I emailed the artist he blew me off.  Clearly he was a pompous oaf with an inflated ego.

I have many images from period advertisements (kinda got hooked on them while researching the paper) and can provide a LOT of material should any content creator wish to take this on.

Thanks for entertaining my suggestion.

Couldn't agree more. I am in a similar position, retired with plenty of disposable income, and I would also like to see a lot more product created for that era, not only hair. The golden years of Hollywood era (30s to 50s) that is. More furniture and clothing from that period would be nice.

On the subject of hair, I would also like to see more realistic hair in the market place. I have almost 200 individual hair props in my runtime but the number that can be used in a realistic render can be counted on one hand.

I browsed the marketplace for the past few days and could not find anything of interest in the clothes or hair department and retro is definitely cool now.

I would definitely purchase some of those retro styles if the vendors created more of them

Would any of you be interested in a retro dynamic swimsuit? I am thinking of making one.

Oh and the 50s skirts... I could make those. Just give me some time. ;)

I just wanted to throw my two cents in here as well...I would be on board and willing (as well as able) to buy props like those described here. Enough of the clothing that looks like a trashy teenager would wear.

Yes, we would all like some more classy looking outfits and something other than the atypical looking hair.

there are already a proliferation of skimpy outfits in the marketplace.

no need for any more of those.
