There are several ways to create a pattern from an existing image is this is the most general of ways
Define an image as a preset pattern
Use the Rectangle Marquee tool on any open image to select an area to use as a pattern. Feather must be set to 0 pixels. Note that large images may become unwieldy.
Choose Edit > Define Pattern.
Enter a name for the pattern in the Pattern Name dialog box.
There are many available tutorials on how to do this from creating seamless patterns what I described above is just a general textbook answer. Hope it helps some

I would like to make some patterns,I have the jpg's and psd's.What I do not know is how to install them'or retrive them ?In photoshop it seems that I can use only the factory pat filea?
I have cs6ext 64 bit.
