Had a few messages from folks worried about no freebie this week. In the words of the hitchhikers guide - Don't Panic! For the start of the New Year thought I'd make something extra special. Though as the sneaky peek shows with this level of modeled detail, it's taking a little longer than planned. The image might be a little unclear as it's unfinshed, and also it's the underside, but as you can see I've even added stuff like the bolt heads. I've also just released a new product as well, hence partly the request. I'm looking for freebie ideas for the type of loads that would fit onto a 6x6ft pallet. Stuff like crate designs, barrels, etc etc. Not just as freebies for this product, but also for palletised loads in general because I like freebies to be useful for a wide variety of things rather than be purely product specific. Including the next big freebie project - The Eagle - which I'm hoping you good folks will like to contribute ideas to. But thats a secret until next week:)

What is the pallet made of? Being a merchant mariner, I am used to 40x48 inch pallets constructed of wood. Mostly carboard boxes on those, wrapped in plastic.

If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.

6 x 6 is a big pallet.

bags of cement, bags of grain, birdseed etc , boxes of all sizes, crates of bottles.

Also found on pallets : bulk mail.

Everything you need to know about pallets :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pallet

1219 x 1016 mm (or 40 x 48 whateva' to the non-metrics) would be the most usable size

Pallets ... would that "sneeky peak" you're showing us be some kind of steampunk/post-apocalyptic/neo-gothic forklift ? With razor-sharp forks preferably.

Here's a pallet with a 3.6 MB hard drive... 😉

rokket - I'm thinking wood mostly. Though I have seen strong plastic pallets before. Boxes with shrink warp certainty if I can get the plastic texture right. markschum - yea it is a tad big- scalewise I'm thinking the same as EDW's one in the urban city set he made a while back. He's an incredibly accurate modeller, so if I can get close to that I'd be happy. DarthJ - by bulk mail do you mean letters ? As for your question....:) Nope. The image shows a steampunk style freebie. Hopefully this will finished and ready for this weekend. The pallet stuff is because originally I made a forklift type vehicle. Planned to make some products add ons and then thought that might work with next weeks freebie - the scifi eagle project. WandW - love that picture :) Indeed recall seeing that when looking for reference for the freebie shown in this post.

Bulk mail : any addressed or unaddressed leaflets, letters, magazines, etc ... that fill up our mail boxes and mostly are discarded unread. Pictures if wanted.

To take this thread slightly OT, check out ebay for pallet furniture. You may have to double check the price of some items. If you're a fan of the comic Harry Enfield the phrase 'I Saw You Coming' might spring to mind

That reminds me of an old Channel 4 show where they made stuff from junk. Though reckon that would make a great base for a model railroad coffee table:)
