Subject: Question about chaning the order of Poser Library content in Poser Pro 2014

FightingWolf ( ) posted Sun, 09 March 2014 at 2:55 PM · edited Wed, 24 July 2024 at 7:54 PM

I found an old post on how to change the order of the poser library content in older versions but was wondering if Poser Pro 2014 has a way to do this without me having to pull out the note pad to make manual edits.

Does anyone have any information on this?

Thanks

Not sure what you mean by changing the order of the content. Pretty much anything in the main Poser the Libraries folder (like Character/Pose/Face/Hair/Materials) - which are the user-facing files) can be moved around as you like to any of the Libraries folders.  For example, I move all hair items and the materials for them into Hair.  I move all materials for figures into the Character folder with the figure.

What you CAN'T do without manually editing is move anything in the other folders (like Geometries, Textures, and folders created by various creators with their specialty files).

Does that help?

The same applies to PP2014, nothing has changed regarding how to rearrange the library order within the current Poser.  You'll have to edit the LibraryPrefs.xml manually as usual.

And the numbers don't matter. Just change the order of the lines in the XML.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

there is a uitility at runtimedna by semidieu called advanced library manager. I find it indispensible for rapidly finding my content.  also you can open as many windows of it as you like so you can have lots of different runtimes open at the same time if you are going from one to the other.  searching for a word that forms part of the folder name of your external runtime is pretty much instant too.  reordering is possible without needing to hack any xml files.  also you can load multiple runtimes into poser all in one hit.

Not to mention many other advantages like right clicking on a pose that is say, for the whole body, and just using the hand pose or the upper body or lower body by itself or right arm by itself etc. ie partial poses.

there are many other useful features that dramatically speed up your workflow.
