Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 24 8:11 pm)
I'm glad you could figure out a solution that's working for you! :)
Adding sleeves to the original dolman figure was not possible as this is not real cloth but a 3D model.. in any movement of the body (bending/twisting etc).. the sleeves as part of the figure would follow, but NOT in a normal realistic way!
For example.. if Mike bends with a dolman that has sleeves, that sleeve should hang straight down in the hair (due to gravity).. not bend in half to his waist.. right? :)
Sometimes, absolute realism is not possible to achieve when you have to work with polygons and rigging instead of real cloths! There is where innovative thinking and great 3D skills come to life and fill the gap.. doing something like what YOU did! :) This way, even if Mike bends, you WILL be able to pose that sleeve hanging down straight.. something you could never do with an actual Poser figure! :)
So thumbs up for the great solution you came up with! :)

Here's my solution. I took a jacket, posed it, re-scaled it in the x, y, z axis to compress the sleeve, positioned it appropriately on the Dolman, made all the jacket parts invisible except the left collar, left shoulder and left forearm and parented the Dolamn to the jacket.
The sleeve is still poeable to make if flop in the breeze or what-ever and I suppose that a second sleeve can be added the same way if needed. Above is a quick, un-rendered Poser screen cap. What do you guys think?
