Bonjour

I am a new IPAD user and i have used a free application called TreeSketch from this site

http://www.algorithmicbotany.org/virtual_laboratory/

from The University of Calgary (you can have it at Apple store for free)

The outputs are very nice and realistic  trees that you can export wtih obj format, materials included

I have imported them in Vue infinite and ,with minor ajustment in marerial editor, you have somme additional trees in your collection

I have used the Ipad version because it have many controls visually intuitive .See the video tutorials at the botton of the link

There also Pc version but the interface seems more and more complicated to me and not as intuitive as Ios version.I have tried it and delete  from my Pc .The Ios one is very nice

Could you maybe upload a couple of sample .obj's to freestuff for us non mac users to check out...ipads are looking more enticing all the time....

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again

Attached Link: FREESTUFF UPLOAD PAGE

Renderosity hosts uploads...just package all the items in a .zip file(or files if it's over the 50 M file restriction) and go to Freestuff Uploads...there are complete instructions there.

Allo

I just realise that obj format from Treestech is correctly imported in Photoshop extended as 3d objets with all its textures on .You compose and render See this screen dump

That's one of the many programs that open .obj's. I personally think all programs should start using the format as it makes the best objects...just my 2 cents....

I have many softs able to load obj format

The problem is that some cannot load or load incorrectly textures associated to obj

Sometime you can  do some minor ajustments but sometime  it hard to find what is the problem with the maps

And Photoshop load everything correctly Surprise for me

There's a free app called PoseRay that you can get at the link which I use often as Terragen likes it's output but you can fix lots in it and it saves a very accessible .obj flavour, hee hee hee

Interesting program. Makes plants from C++ code. I don't see where the Export OBJ button is. Is there a pay version that allows that? I'm running the 2009 WinXP version of L-studio.

On the Ipad version .it have an export menu with many options See this screen shot with all the files it can export

On Pc i don't have used enough to find the export option

I discovered that right-clicking the OpenGL screen had an export OBJ menu. But it does nothing. Maybe my C++ compiler is not being found? Anyway, I deleted the program since I don't like the plants it makes. The iPad program is a completely different animal that makes better looking trees.
