Subject: A question for those using Genesis in Poser 10/PP 2014....

Believable3D ( ) posted Wed, 02 July 2014 at 12:20 AM · edited Sun, 05 January 2025 at 6:17 AM

Just got the free V6 and installed my Genesis base etc. No problems at that particular level; V6 loads fine.

However, I have the Genesis Evolution Morph Bundle, and cannot figure out how to get it into PP2014. I put the files (which are in the Data directory) in the same runtime parent folder as the rest of my Genesis stuff, but it's not showing up. Nor does it appear when I tell Daz's installer to install it to PP2014's own runtime.

Only other thought I've had: Is Evolution only compatible with Genesis 1, not Genesis 2?

Genesis Evolution is for Genesis now referred to as Genesis 1 by some.

They are not compatible with any of the Genesis 2 figures.

Thanks, all. Pretty sure I never used Genesis 1 in Poser at all, and likely will never use those morphs.

Any morph package designated for DAZ will show up automatically in the Properties/Parameter window when you import Genesis/Genesis 2 into Poser through DSON.  Unfortunately, as you add morphs, those will port over also creating a rather longer load time and a larger file.  There is no selection control.  To avoid this, it is recommended that you load only those morphs you are interested in and remove all others into a different folder away from Poser access.  Load Genesis into Poser and save the figure into your Library.  Do this for each combination of morphs you want to load and resave the figure back into Poser (this creates a new cr2 exclusively for Poser).

Although Genesis base does include quite a few morphs, as it was released in the beta phase of DS 4 before the full morph packs were available, it doesn't include the full Evolution morphs - those remain a separate purchase.

Believable3D ( ) posted Wed, 02 July 2014 at 10:18 AM

Richard, I think you misunderstood what was said. He was pointing out that the Gen 1 characters, which are the characters designed to work with the Evolution morphs (really vice versa), were free. Wasn't saying the morph set, which I already have, was free.

My problem is Genesis 2 female will not show up when I load her. Genesis 2 male and Gen 2 child, etc all show up fine. But when I load gen 2 female, it shows her name /title in the upper left hand corner (In Poser Pro 2014) as if she is there, but she is invisible. I even moved her in and out and changed camera views etc, in case she loaded off screen, but nope. She is not there.

I installed her just like I installed the others. I cannot figure this out.

I spent a hefty amount of $$$ for her morphs, V6, the clothes, etc that all go with gen 2 female and it is very disapointing that I cannot use any of them.

Help?

I need an easy solutution if possible. I have a hard time folllowing tuts because sometimes they are long and drawn out so i get confused. I am not a total idiot but I can't help but feel like one.LOL.  :P

Thanks to everyone.

usually if the figure is listed but not present that means the DSON Core files are in the wrong place, in particular the DataDAZ 3DGenesis 2Female folder - the data folder needs to sit alongside the Runtime folder, as it presumably does for DataDAZ 3DGenesis and DataDAZ 3DGenesis 2Male since they are loading.

So I should move the date file for Gen2 female>?? And put it exactly where? I told ya I was well, you know..... :(

hborre ( ) posted Sat, 05 July 2014 at 3:52 PM

The DAZ library should be linked to Poser for DSON to work properly.  It doesn't matter whether you access it or not, but the link must exist.  The DAZ library contains a separate runtime folder within it's own heirarchy.

I don't use DSON I just DAZ Studio but if ya let the zip just auto place every thing then
Genesis 2 base female mesh & V6 morhs n all are proababaly in
"Publick Documents" or "AlexandersGrandma  Documents"
Mines in

C:UsersPublicDocumentsMy DAZ 3D LibraryPeopleGenesis 2 Female
C:UsersPublicDocumentsMy DAZ 3D LibraryPeopleGenesis 2 Male
Sounds like Genesis 2 base female mesh got curupted some how.
might try wireframe ,scale might be a factor also.

but if male installed there then female alt to be installed also.
if there's a male but no female then she didn't get installed.

if ya put files else where then bad things happen.

hborre : How do you  "The DAZ library should be linked to Poser for DSON to work properly" ?

The "data" folder has to be beside/equal to your "runtime" folder in your parent directory. E.g.

Content/data/

Content/Runtime/

or whatever name you have for your containing directory rather than "Content" (which is what DAZ uses).

If you're manually installing the daz zip files (which are best with the Install Manager), the 'content' is just a dummy folder that holds the actual directories. Generally the default directory is something like "My Library" which then contains the 'data' and 'runtime' directories. The install manager installs any directory below 'Content' to whatever is defined in that program. So if you're not using the install manager, you'll have to make sure that whatever directory you're installing content to matches what you have in the DSON importer preferences in Poser and also add that directory as a runtime in Poser as well.

Hello all. Well, I started moving some stuff around, trying to follow what the last 2 of you said and some how, it worked! Woo hoo. I can now load Genesis 2 female. I am a happy camper now.

But, I haven't done anything else with her yet. I might work with her tonight if I feel up to it.

Now someone told me elsewhere that we do not inj morphs into Gen2 like we do in older Poser programs (below Poser 9 I think) but that we find the morphs in the umm, I forget what it is called but where you find the dials. That I am to move the dials to get the morphs to work. Is that true?

Remember, I use Poser Pro 2014 with DSON.

Thanks again you fine people. Blessings.

Paula

Parameter/properties window.  Yes, it is true.  However, adding too many morph packages will increase load time and slow down Poser.

I spoke too soon. Not about Gen2female loading. She loads fine now, but I installed all the new goodies I bought for her including the gen2 male and female aging morphs which include the HD morphs and textures. Anyways, I added alot and none of it shows up anywhere. Not even in the runtime when I am actually looking in the runtime. I tried over and over. Now i probably have them 3 or 4 times somewhere. Gosh I am such an idiot. I am atempting to move stuff like I did with gen2 female when I got her to work. But I don't want to have to go thruogh this everytime I make a perchase. And I am too afraid to delete the old files once I move them, in case I mess it up worse.

I am starting to regret even buying Poser Pro 2014. I should have stuck with Poser Pro 2010 like I said I was going to do. Especially since this is an expensive hobby. I make no money off of it.

hborre ( ) posted Thu, 10 July 2014 at 5:23 PM

If the morph packages do not include a Poser Core File (PoserCF), then you install the files within the DAZ equivalent of Poser's runtime folder, in this case, My Library.  I believe the core folder is entitled 'Data'.  This is the only way Genesis/Genesis 2 will recognize and load associated morphs with the DSON Importer.  Unfortunately, though, when searching the Parameter/Properties window for your new morphs, it may take a little time to locate exactly where their nested.  I find that intimidating if there are too many morphs loaded into one figure.

The best way to install DAZ DSON files is using the DAZ Install Manager (DIM) which removes the core content folder automatically and places everything where they belong.  Otherwise, manually decompressing each folder and moving them to their appropriate places can become very tedious.

it seems ya making this worse then it really is.
seems like ya just don't know where it's loading the files.
when it's loading wount' it will tell you where it loading ?

and it's probably asking u if you want to overright the old file.
instead of loading it twice.

hborre ( ) posted Thu, 10 July 2014 at 5:33 PM

Depends how the files are being installed.  If you working your way down the folder hierarchy, then you will not encounter any overwrite messages.  If you are using DIM incorrectly and not assigning DAZ/Poser pathways in your preferences, your installations are being misplaced.  IIRC, DIM will not flag an overwrite warning, it will just write to the designated location.

GrandmaPaula ( ) posted Thu, 10 July 2014 at 5:53 PM

I should start all over. LOL. But I have so much stuff! Eek.

But..... Guess what? I went back to Daz to read the DSON installation guide, etc and as I was reading, I saw that I should load Gen2 female (the one I am aiming for at the moment) and it says to select Gen 2 female and body. And then go into the parimeters and select real world. So i did and I found all my morphs! I was really looking for the aging ones to test. I tried it before but I selected the head and the aging morphs weren't there. I didnt know i had to select her body. LMAO.....

I'll let ya know what else i cannot find (if I have more trouble.) I ready do appreciate all your help for this grandma.

Paula

Okay, yeah I cannot find my characters that i bought. So I cannot add a character or their textures because i cannot find them and I have alot of folders that show up but they are empty. They even show a 0 showing me they are empty. Doggone it!

hborre ( ) posted Thu, 10 July 2014 at 6:29 PM

Did you load both the DAZCF and PoserCF?

I guess I better find them. I did find a few characters in the dials, but none of their textures were in the runtimes...[
