Subject: Genesis - Hanging Poser

I have asked this before (I think) but wondered if anybody had more advice.  when I'm using Genesis 2 in Poser using latest DSON i almost always encounter a unrecoverable hang.  Sub division on or off, doesn't seem to make any difference.  Genesis is in it's own runtime away from everything else and I get no indication that it's going to happen, I can be in any camera angle and sometimes it happens quickly sometimes I can be working for a while before it happens.

Never been able to use it.  I'd like to know if anybody else has had this and if there is a remedy.

What OS and what version of Poser?  P9 and 10 are 32 bit even if you have a 64 bit OS.  It sounds like the dread "library lock".  Sometimes you can get around it by using an external library app like Shaderworks Advanced Library Manager or D3D's library app.

Sometimes even an external library app doesn't fix the issue.

You could try one Netherworks camera manager from RDNA.  Issues with the DSON, Genesis/Genesis 2 and Poser are hit and miss things.  Some users have one issue, others have another, others have none at all.  I gave up after one to many library lock issues.

Truthfully, there is no one remedy.  If you send to SMS tech support they will refer you back to DAZ as DSON and Genesis is their baby.

Sorry, I'm not much help.

Is you library linked or external?  I have found that setting your Library to external from within General Preferences will remedy the problem.  I had similar issues and changing the preferences corrected Genesis 2's behavior.

Poser 2014, 64-bit, 16gb of RAM, Windows 8.1, SSD etc.

LIbrary is external, always has been since the option was there, better workflow with two monitors.

Yes latest SR is installed and latest DSON.  I've got no extras other than reality

Did you have this issue with a previous version of the DSON?

If the previous version was working, try rolling back to earlier version.  I've has issues in the past.  DAZ would update the importer, SMS would release an SR and the updated importer wouldn't work.

I have the same problem with all versions of genesis, dson in Poser 9 as well as Poser 10/2014

It seems the work fine, then it gets slower and then suddenly the UI freezes. Sometimes it comes back after 10 minutes, but with the next bend it freezes again.

This happens all the time when scenes get more complicated

I have not found a solution for this, so I gave up on genesis

I have no such issues with non-dson figures
