You mentioned the one for the MilCat. and there are some for the mil-horse, rhino and elephant. What I suggest ... IF you have PP2014, to take these items, if you have them and fit them to the dog in the fitting room ... or ask some kind soul skilled in the fitting room to do it for you. (unfortunately, I haven't mastered it yet).

Greetings
Working on a battle scene and need some kind of battle armor for MilDog or DAZ War Hound.
Something similar to the freebie that is out there for the DAZ Big Cat or for what Sixus did a long time ago for his Bear. (which he disappointedly discntinued).
This is what I had in mind:
All I have is the "Dog" that came with Poser Pro 2012 and the Mil Dog "LE" that came with one of the earlier versions or that I got from DAZ as a freebie or something. (Don't remember what version it came with or where I got it.)
I'm working on a few freebie projects, right now, but I could probably crank out something for you for one of these figures fairly quickly, if the pictured armor is the sort of thing you want. What sort of detail do you need on it? (ie: Used for close-up shots or not?)
I have never worked with the Mildog's rigging/groups and am not familiar with them at all. What I can do is take a look at it, when I get the chance over the next week, and see if I can produce something like what's in your pic and acceptable rigging for it. Again, it's virgin territory and I have no experience with that rigging. I took a look at the Mildgog LE's rig and it's a bit more complex than I thought it would be for quick work, but it looks "doable" once I make a few attempts with it.
I assume that the rigging for both the Mildog LE and full versions is the same, yes? Groups as well? If anyone can confirm those assumptions, I'll eventually do some armor for the standard Millenium Dog LE, but I can't confirm how long it'll take, since I've never worked with that model. :)
PS - Feel free to post some resource images of the sort of armor you want. It'll help in regards to how long it will take me to produce what you want, rather than whatever it is I eventually cough up as a freebie. ;) Also, textures are almost guaranteed to be substandard (In my own opinion) so if you want awesome textures suitable for studio production, you had better get someone else to do them for you. :)
I did a "doodle" this morning, sort of a concept piece:

Still needs tweaking, spikes everywhere, a collar, leather harness straps and foreleg guards and maybe some for the rear legs. Also have a version with protective risers for the ears, but it doesn't look too good. I think exposed ears are better and just put some spikes behind them or something.
I've seen requests for dog armor before. So, if several people do some, I'm sure others will like the variety.
It'll be rigged for the LE dog, since I don't have the Mildog standard version. Conforming chain/leather and everything else I can reasonably conform. Never rigged for that dog, so have no idea what's a good idea to conform or prop.
Prop might be easier.
/shrug
I dunno, I'm in new territory with the Millenium Dog LE. I've never rigged nuthin' for it. Using the hard-surface armor as props might be easier, but I might try to do something different and give those parts a different bone/group structure, turn off bending and such, and combine them with the rest of it, just to learn a bit about how to accomplish that. So, it'd all, just about, be one conforming item with three to seven additional bones, for the hard-surface groups, so they can be tweaked. (That's probably overkill, though... You're probably right - It'd be more functional an easier to use with certain parts as props. :) But, then I wouldn't learn anything new. :D )
looks rel nice.
if made for a beefier dog breed morph like a roman .......Sheitz!.....I just pulled another senior moment...forgot the breed but they were huge and stocky like a Rottweiler but bigger and uglier.
Oh, Oh Neopolitan Mastiff! Now that is an ugly old dog. And with armor on it it would be scary as hell!
Have you ever seen dogs fight. Brutal. Would look better with full face mask to especilly cover the neck and throat and muzzle and ears, the points more vulnerable on a fighting or war dog. but the armor looks nice. A padded collar around the parts that would be closest to the flesh on all armor plates. Needs straps to finish it and a morph to get rid of spikes on the separate pieces, if you can. if you want I can gift you a morph pack for the LE Dog from DAZ so you can play with it and use it to create a more universal armor. Since you will then own it it would be cool. ;)
Let me know. Here are a few way cool dog armor samples. And sorry it took so long getting back....DA BOT here never gets back to me with responses. :(
include them. did a "doodle" this morning, sort of a concept piece:

I just ran across this project yesterday, sitting in my "to do" folder, along with a few other projects I've been meaning to finish. :) I'll grab your reference pics and see what I can do. I'm terrible with finishing such ad hoc projects, sorry. I get work pushed behind, then start working on something else, completely forgetting everything else I was supposed to do.
PS - I had already found some of those pics and incorporated some of their ideas into what I was doing, IIRC. The intent was to have a conforming harness and padding, perhaps even a few pieces of chain and chainmail, rigged in, then smartpropped armor, designed to move well with the harness rig. Some extra morphs for fitting the plates to a bulkier/skinnier dog would be fairly easy.
If I get the mesh finished for the base LE dog and you like it, all you have to do is transfer the morphs over to it using MorCloth (sold here). That's all I would do, anyway, but maybe a few little tweaks if it didn't work out well. We'll see how it goes. I have a little time coming up, so might be able to tinker with it in the next few days. Bookmarked thread, will reply here when done. (Note: It will not be within the next 7 days, I wouldn't think. I've got stuff backed up all over the place and won't even be able to be online to upload it even if I had finished it during that time, sorry. I'll be "dark" for all that time. :( )
OMG! I must have this for Kira! I really need to get back into leatherworking. She'd look so awesome in that.
Sorry, carry on.
If you have PP2014, you should pretty much just be able to model it fitted to the dog and then go into the fitting room and transfer rigging to the armor. Depending on how many parts it has, some may need some movement morphs so they don't distort too much.
Just a thought but could you use a square prop draped using the cloth room for the main body armour ?
No not really. First don't know how to use the cloth room or dynamic cloth. I was never th sharpest nail in the bag and with age have gotten more difficult in learning new stuff. Been with poser since the release of P4 and now in 2014Pro and still so many basic functions others have mastered or at least gotten somewhat comfy using but NOT ME! :(
If I knew how to create my own stuff i sure wouldn't be in these forums begging others to do stuff for me...would I? :)

Never used the fititng room but if anything like the other advanced functions in Poser 2014 Pro I will problably not be able to wrap my dead head around it I am afraid. With the help of my tech genius nephew, I am setting up a Rasberry Processor system running some form of Linux system to play tutorials so i can try and learn stuff on my laptop with the tuts playing beside it. For around 470 I WILL HAVE A TINY LITTLE COMPUTER to run a browser, text editor and mail functions and perhaps a pdf reader set up so I can easily run tuts on. Maybe I will be able to eventually finger some stuff out.
Funny, I would have no problem making any of these items shown above in steel ring or leather with bronze/metal plate. I used to a lifetime ago for my RPG stuff and photography. But Poser and 3D? FOGETABOUTIT! :(
