Blender F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 16 8:00 pm)
I have not tried any other render except for Blender's default, Cycles using my CPU since my older card also does not support cycles but can say that have found some reasonable priced graphic cards that might invest in for this old rig till I am fully ready to build a new system so I can take more advantage of Cycles and Lux. So do not have any experience with Corona sorry

I've used Corona extensively in 3dsmax. The Blender plugin works with the standalone version. The standalone does not support as many features as the 3dsmax plugin, but it's still a great render engine. Very fast. I prefer the 3dsmax integrated plugin, however, and will continue to use it there as long as I can, as my go-to render engine of choice.

I concur. Actually, your "Father's Workshop" render is what turned me on to using Corona for the first time, lux. Great engine. I've tried the standalone, but not the same.
Tools : 3dsmax 2015, Daz Studio 4.6, PoserPro 2012, Blender
v2.74
System: Pentium QuadCore i7, under Win 8, GeForce GTX 780 / 2GB
GPU.
Interesting. I really like the MAX plugin version as well. I have the last alpha version which is free.
Think I'll stick with Cycles for the minute - or maybe Yafaray or something of that nature. Thanks for the responses folks :)

Don't know what the others think, but in my opinion, Cycles is the best bet for rendering out of Blender right now. Unless you're interested in going strictly gpu, then I'd suggest Octane.

GPU isn't an option at the moment - I'd have to replace the PSU and Graphics card so that's not happening any time soon :)

I don't suppose any of the esteemed members here have used the Corona render engine in Blender? my GPU is way too old to run Cycles, and I can't afford VRay but I do rather like the way Cycles renders. I've used Corona in MAX and I did read that there was an exporter for Blender
TIA
