Subject: Prime Prices showing Marketplace listings

willdial ( ) posted Thu, 27 August 2015 at 8:33 PM · edited Tue, 19 November 2024 at 5:56 AM

When I go to the What's New page in the Marketplace, some of the items just show the Prime member price. I do not have the prime membership. I want to see the regular price. It is very annoying to not see the price I would pay. I would skip that item just and that's not good for the vendors.

Also, I'm wondering if that is a liability issue. Someone might click the add to cart button on the What's New page and then see a different price in cart. Someone might consider that fraud. I don't want to see you guys get sued.

Maybe I'm just overly sensitive, I have worked with lawyers before.

Thank you for bringing this up. I will alert the store staff. :)

I only see prime prices in the what's new I thought that would be fixed, but nothing has happened in a month Isn't that considered false advertizing?

Giana ( ) posted Wed, 30 September 2015 at 8:56 PM

yea, i brought this up weeks ago & was told it'd be fixed, but alas, nothing has changed yet. i doubt it's fraud, but it does wander close to the whole bait-switch game... it's tiresome to have to click into stuff just to get a price simply because a person hasn't joined in to the whole Prime thingy...

I don't know about false advertising, but it is illegal in most US states. You can't display one price then charge another - it's called bait and switch.

In a thread where I asked the same thing, Hope responded that it would remain like this. As if this wasn't enough now I'm getting e-bots for wishlisted items when they go on sale but only for Prime members (which I'm not). I only want an e-bot when it's on a regular sale - for everyone. I didn't sign up for Prime spam. Good way to get me to delete my wishlist.

@Kalypso

oh, is that why i can come here and see things on my Wishlist that are, yes, indeed, on sale, but i never received notice!? then again, after reading your message, i went & looked, and i only have one Prime item on that list.

i guess, whilst the merchants maybe would like to earn a little income from me, that the site doesn't really want it enough to make me aware - so be it. i guess those items on my list can just sit there if i fail to notice they went on sale, and the merchants can wonder why their income p'raps has dropped off. not a good way to look out for the merchants, imo, but it sure helps out my credit card!! so thanks, Rendo!! much appreciated!!
