Subject: The Signal an interactive story (Help needed)

Hi all

As some of you might remember im working on a program called Interactive Media Center which allow one to turn videos, images and audio in an interactive experience. If you don't know what im talking about here is a thread with some more information - Interactive Media Center

Anyway I have created a short story or demonstration called "The Signal" which i hope to get some help testing or if you are just wondering what this is all about you can of course just try it out for fun.

Things to know

  1. The program comes with a setup file that you just have to run to install it. It also include an uninstaller so it can be removed again just as easy.

  2. The project was created to support the two most common screen resolutions 1680x1050 and 1920x1080, so any resolution below these will sort of ruin the experience.

  3. The first time you start it you might be asked to install some custom fonts that are used in the program and these are needed for it to run. However these are some very nice comic and sci fi fonts and the program will guide you through this and only takes a few seconds.

If you experience any problems or have some other feedback, i would greatly appreciate it so i can fix it.

Download here: The Signal setup file (83.4 mb)

Thanks

Got a good question from Ambientshade that I thought i would share here with his permission, so thanks for that :)

"This looks great. I've been looking for something like this for a while. When do you think it will be available? I have several ideas for what I could do with it. Was reading your thread on the program itself and tried out the demo. Looking good. Will it handle layered videos rendered in green screen or with transparencies? If so maybe that's a way to add interactive animations." from Ambientshade

Regarding the transparency in videos, I looked a bit into this and it seems to not be an easy task in general when working with videos and since the program uses primarily the .Webm format it depends on whether this can do it or not. But from what i can figure out it should be possible, but its not that easy it seems. But there seem to be a great demand for this in general around web, so hopefully it will be made easy/easier at some point.

However it is possible to fake interactive animations in the program and instead of just saying it is possible, i made a small video showing how it could be done.
