I am interested in making content for Second Life with Carrara, which I used to do in Maya. Linden Labs supplies the default avatars to use as donor rigs, tailoring dummies, and any other use you can come up with for them. The basic workflow for me when making clothing and armor before was to build my items around the default avatars, then use Maya to copy the skin weighting information from the default avatar to the item I had made. I would then adjust and clean up the weighting information and detach the default avatar from the skeleton. Once the default avatar was detached, I would delete it out, leaving me with a fully rigged item that could be 'conformed' in Second Life.
My question is, can Carrara do this? Can it bind multiple meshes to the same skeleton, and can it copy the weighting information from one mesh to another? I would prefer not to buy plugins and such, of course, but I will if need be.
