Subject: Face expressions not "taking" after renaming Character & save to library

galaxiefilm ( ) posted Fri, 04 December 2015 at 9:52 PM · edited Tue, 10 December 2024 at 4:23 AM

I loaded Victoria 4 and then a marvelous character for her from Godin.

When I saved the new character under a new name to my library and then placed her in a new scene, I noticed that pre-made third-party body poses would work just fine but not pre-made facial expressions.

Fortunately, I saved my steps along the way as a series of project files. And I discovered when I went back through them that this happened when I renamed the character inside of Poser.

Are these third party face morphs looking for the name Victoria or V4 on the figure and failing to take effect because I changed her name?

I'm using Poser Pro 2012 64-bit on Win 7 Pro x64.

I've never seen this issue, but, Poser files are all just text files. You can open them with word pad or notepad or notepad++ (Please not MS Word!!) and see what is actually going on.

Assuming you can find the original install, the read me will tell you where to find the 3rd party files so you can see what's inside them.

Picking a random Head Inj from Godin in my runtime, I see a call to the !DAZ folder, but no specific reference to any character name.
Can you send your exact steps?? THANKS!

Thanks, Andy.

This was with a figure I was building a few months back and just came back to this evening.

Give me a few days to examine all of that and I'll get back to you.

LOL! Yes, I'll use notepad++--not Word! ;-)

I believe that the problem stemmed from starting to build the Character in PP2010 and finishing it in PP2012. I just went back a few steps and found where premade facial expressions would be accepted again and restarted from there.

Everything was working fine until today when a new problem raised its ugly head. Will describe in a new thread. And this one has me ready to scream & pull my hair out.
