Subject: Content install problems

I just installed poser 2014 and 2 problems are occurring. First, I am trying to install Michael 4 and when I do, I get this message: “When used with Poser TM, "Michael 4 base" must be installed to the same directory as the application executable;due to restrictions on support file locations. Please select the directory that contains your Poser executable.” I’m trying to install it in program files/smithmicro/poser2014. I’ve had M4 for some time and never had this show up in older versions of Poser.

The second problem is when I install other content including Michael 3 and Victoria 3, They install but the content libraries only display a default poser icon and not their thumbnails. The flash version is current.

Please create an empty text file named Poser.exe in the root of your Poser install (or a standalone runtime). This should satisfy the M4 base installer. (SM changed the name of the executable.)

Mike & Vikki 3 use RSR files, rather than PNG files for their icons. Poser stopped supporting RSRs a while back... This free utility might help http://rsr-converter.software.informer.com/ Good luck!

Assuming you're running Windows later than XP, you should avoid the option to install content to the Poser executable directory. Windows' UAC will prevent data from being written into that location. The generation 4 figures will in fact work fine from another location now. It's been a while since I did this, but if it won't allow you to install anywhere else you might want to check that your Michael 4 is up to date.

Well, I put a dummy poser.exe file in and it works. Thank You. However, I just D/L The Lee texture for M4. Daz3d sends you files that need to be place manually into directories. this causes me problems, since it's asking where they are when trying to load them. The morphs work, but the textures don't show up in any search I do. Is there a simple way to install Daz files without the tedious manual process? Thanks for all You help
