Blender F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 18 9:49 am)
In all the time I have used Blender I never knew that Blender3D was the "official" name. Probably not surprising since it is never referred to as Blender3D. The official Blender website is not blender3d.org, the foundation is not known as the Blender3D Foundation even on the History of Blender page at blender.org, there is no mention of Blender being referred to as Blender3D. Even though, as you state, Blender3D is technically still correct, in common usage it is never referred to by that name. Whilst the sun will still come up tomorrow and life will go on regardless I still propose that the forum name be changed to reflect the common name usage of Blender.

The official Blender website is not blender3d.org,
It used to be, and when I say used to be, I'm talking like 14 years ago. lol Between blender.org and blender3d.org one was supposed to be the actual site for blender, and the other for development of blender.
You'll still see "Blender 3D" used here and there, but it's not that prevalent.

I know that this may not seem to be a major issue but I think it is time that the forum name should correctly represent the name of the software. It is not "Blender3d" it is "Blender". You don't see "Poser3D" or "Cinema 4D3D" or "3DS MAX3D". Also the forum description should better reflect Blenders ideals and origin. Either the same or similar to how it is described on the Blender homepage - "Blender is Free and Open Source Software. Free to use for any purpose, forever."
