Sometime ago someone offered a Trill Tattoo sat here or elsewhere. I love the tattoo set and downloded it. I archived int and I am sure it is still archived amidst the hundreds o archive cd's and dvd's in my stuff. Bit not knowing where in that pile I hoped to find it again. Of course I do not remember if it was for V2, V3 or V4 but a search on the freebie section here only brought me an old link for V3 that no longer exists. I was pretty sure it was for V2 or V4 but alas not here. Anyone know what I am speaking of or where I can find it?

I've often wondered, Boni, what the rationale is in offering add-on packs for products Rendo doesn't even carry, if you can't provide a link to where the product is because it's on a competitor's site. I can tell you for a fact, that you, meaning Rendo, have lost sales from me for that very reason. Plus, it's the most irritating feeling in the world to have to chase down a vendor to ask for your money back because you bought an add on pack thinking it was the original product, or worse, you can't FIND the original product anywhere.

I wonder why ebots aren't working for you. I haven't had any problems with them. Could it be your email client? Have you contacted admin@renderosity.com with some details so they can diagnose the issue?

From my experience running web sites, that is not the reason at all.

The real reason they don't want links here is so none of the other sites will be seen on here by the robots that sort the search engines.

If offsite links are seen on here, it would raise those sites on the search engines. Which they obviously don't want to allow anymore.

As far as I am concerned it is a pretty pathetic move. Rendo used to promote other sites thru the Ring thing. Now it does whatever it can to make sure it does nothing to help them. A complete about face if you ask me. Thousands of websites probably still have links to here on them, and yet their links from here are now removed. That will eventually make those sites fall off of the search engines.

Tell the real reason simply because not telling it doesn't work on anyone that understand why they are forbidden now, and what it will do to those sites on the search engines.

Sorry for being blunt, delete the post if you want too.

And to top it all off, when those sites do fall off it will hurt this ones rankings....

if it were because of competition or Robots to raise there sites in google then there would be a verry simple solution to prevent robots to see these links ! Just by using Code boxes or a hide function on links there are many ways to keep outgoing links Private. also this Rule no links goes further then robots as I had my site link embedded in my renders as signature and this for sure no search engine could find. but this role just caused that I removed all my shared renders since 2002 from Renderosity. the further issue is that other sites including the poser sites I run any renderosity Friends link have been removed as for why should other sites make em for renderosity if renderosity forbids friending links to them !? and for sure I am not the only one who does it this way. if in forums people like to make comments with links to stores it sure is allowed but only in a code box hidden or with shortcut links. this prevents the issue with the bots.

Actually all this ( No Link ) Rule is very contra-productive. There are allot of artists in here Looking every day for new inspirations answers to there questions, but by restricting this possibility it just causes less Artists to search in here. if that link rule would be more flexible more people would come to have a look and they would know .. hey when I search for an answer I find it at renderosity , and if I have an answer I can give it there. We call that costumer support the more you give the more you will get , but as it is now you just get what you deserve.

Yes they could do that, but they don't. If they did I would not have said that. Every public thread here is searchable on the web, and has been for a long time.

You can still find ones that they "lost" thru engines like wayback. In many of those you find links to other things as well, the way it used to be.

Yes that would, but not all of those sites are even maintained anymore. Many are basically just sitting in peoples "free web area" that they got with their ISP.

The whole no link thing is a bit odd to me. I can understand not linking to the Daz store, but not being able to put a link to someones freebies hosted at a site that they run is a bit odd. Usually you block corporate links, and let individual ones up. But that is just what I would call normal operation, from modding at other sites that had similar rules. Most of the sites I worked at allowed links to freebies, etc. Possibly all of them actually.

Rendo has chosen to just forbid links period for the most part, and that is their choice to do so. This community was started to share, learn, etc. Now that is eroding away. The spirit of an extended community has come down too; host it here, so they won't go anywhere else. It makes me wonder what the reasoning might be for this change, and it doesn't really take a rocket scientist to figure it out. Its a sales thing... or lack there of....
