Still not poseable, but I think I've got the UV mapping stuff figured out.

What a cutie! Of course, cute is in the eye of the beholder; my other half thinks it's cute when I belch.... Nice eye texture -- is it procedural?

twillis ( ) posted Tue, 08 May 2001 at 4:41 PM

Thanks, Chip. The textures are all from a bmp (Windows Paint, yet). I was trying to figure out how the UVMapper works. I think I mostly understand it, though I'm not that great at drawing textures. But I wanted to have the option, in case I can convince a friend of mine who is good at textures to do some painting for me. Or in case anyone else wanted to play with this guy when I get him done.

I thought he was the female of the species? (Not that I'm going to be putting any gender based assumptions on him / her....) :o)

twillis ( ) posted Tue, 08 May 2001 at 6:56 PM

No, I think he's a guy. I think the females would be various shades of brown, practically speaking. The guys get colorful when they hit puberty. Or so it seems to me. They're kind of growing in my head. --Terri

Put simply, I think they're outstanding. And just another note Terri, I've taken on the vertex modeler for my B-Movie project for the first time. I started with a monster head. We'll see if it comes out but so far, it looks ok. Seeing what you're doing is a strong inspiration. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Very nice. Are you still going to chagne the legs?

twillis ( ) posted Wed, 09 May 2001 at 6:19 AM

It's kind of hard to tell from this angle, but the legs do now bend the other way. I left them kind of straight in hopes that would make it easier to but the bones in via the ProPack.

Your UV mapping is looking good, i can't see any distortion from here . One suggestion: if the males of the species are more colored than the females, you could add some lipstick to them . It sure will make those guys more virile ! ;) litst

twillis ( ) posted Wed, 09 May 2001 at 8:48 AM

There's a bit of smear on the upper thigh, where the seams meet. It probably won't matter for me though, as I think I want a more solid-color cartoony look. You may be right about the lipstick. They probably wear all kinds of body paint. Of course, it might make their women feeled kind of cheated, once it washes off. Sort the equivalent of stuffing one's bra. --Terri

Terri - He's looking good. He reminds me of a cross between a chicken and a pot bellied stove. As for the coloring, what about bright yellow splotches on the males and tan splotches on the females. The tan splotches would give the females a camouflage look. Keith
