Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 20 7:20 am)
Hi Thanks but You may want to avoid wasting time. Though I have V3 she has never been installed or used. It has to be for either V2 or V4. I looked for an hour here and found everything except for what I was looking for. Sucks content creators who create such real live imitating avatars for the rest of us to use in Poser can not use the real names of the characters they are simulating.
Forgive me for stating the bleedin' obvious but...
You could always do it yerself. I assume you have V4's morphs, so spending a few hours faffing with them will probably bear a lot more fruit than looking around and trying to find someone else's version. The costume should be easy enough with a few seams and a sparkly material painted onto the V4 bodysuit, or even V4 herself. Likewise, all the mechanical doodads on her face and hands.
Go on, give it a shot. You know you want to.

HaHa! Of course you are right. I have a niece-in-law who resembles her immensely. I photographed her years ago and did a photo manip which won me an award and can be seen here: http://shantetoo.deviantart.com/art/Blue-Eyed-Fae-78430848
I have done a few Poser renders for her and my nephew and got it pretty close but because I am having more problems with my hand and eyesight spending long hours spinning those damn dials and trying to see details on my tiny laptop is getting more and more tedious If I can find something close to being where I need it to be, I go for it. Because I recall having seen one somewhere I thought I could try it for expediency's sake. But my damn memory does not serve me either. Damn old age sucks.....thing works anymore! :)

The best Seven resemblance I have seen is a morph by Malewenn for Dawn, called Elisa. For sale at HW. Not for V4, but maybe you would want to try Dawn at some point.
Hi
Though I have Dawn basic free download and the free updated version I did not install her. I prefer to just keep working with V4....I have a huge investment in morphs and textures for her and do not want to invest in another figure. I think I am done investing and re-investing in Poser stuff anyway. It took DAZ ending support for Poser to do that. Except for the occasional set or environment , animal or creature, I avoid spending more money on human figures and accessories.

We did have one for V3 in the store ... I've been doing a search. I will try to get back to you soon.
I remember that because I had that character in my wishlist and then the vendor pulled it never to be sold again. Vendor was Orion1167 who is now at DAZ. It was a very good likeness with the added 7 of 9 Borg implant stuff on one of the texture sets.

57? We're still burping ya, baby boomer!
Have you tried contacting Orion? Some vendors are very kind regarding older products.
This is the best one that I have seen.

Here's what the character looks like with Snarly's EZSkin script. Hair is Quarker's Slinky.

This is V3 though right? Her feet look like V3 and with the shoulders raises I can't really tell. It is too bad DAZ never fixed those damn shoulder/collar areas on the Mil3 figures. Both male and female figures looked awful out of the box and only looked a bit better when muscled up which left the otherwise beautiful V3/S3 out of the fashion/pinup model loop. I spent so damn much money on those figures and except for initial play never used them and deleted them all from my Runtime w/o further looking back. :(
Yep, that's V3. There is a Weight Mapped version of V3 which bends rather nicely.
I rather liked V3. Definitely preferred it to V4, which I have never liked. As for Seven of Nine, I had no luck finding anything suitable. Hope you had better luck.

That one is the vanilla V3 but I can get the same character onto the Weight Mapped version. Gimme a few and I'll post it for you.

For some reason the character's body morphs didn't work properly on the WM version so I dialled in something approximating Jeri Ryan's shape. The face is as the previous version. Anyhow, this is the WM V3, same skin and hair as above, arms down.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
Well, I altered the body type to around 0.1 Young, 0.1 Skinny, then I posed the arms. The trick is to drop the shoulders as well as bend the upper arms. Shoulders are down around about 15 degrees, which is my best guess at anatomically correct.
I think all the above may have some effect on the look of the shoulders because in all respects, the figure is the standard V3 shape.
The WM rigging also will help a great deal with joint bulges but half the trick is remembering how a real body would bend.

those shoulders ARE NOT the standard V3 line backer bumpers. What is up? Does the WM V3 do away with those awful bulging shoulders?
Corvas used to have his SimpleDetailsMil3 morph set that fixed the football player shoulders on V3 and M3, but I just checked, and he doesn't have it in his store anymore. Seems he's only supporting V4 and M4 these days.

That's as may be but in the context of shante's remark, you don't need all that stuff to get the look I have there. It's just as I posted, V3 dialled down a little younger and thinner, with arms posed "properly". Properly in inverted commas because it's not written in stone that you should pose arms any particular way but generally, when arms are up, shoulders go up, when arms are down, shoulders follow.

Very true Sam. I'm just lazy, and back when I was playing with V3, I was still very new to all this, so it just made sense for me to get it.
I have V3 installed, though I don't use her much anymore, but I may have to try what you suggested to see if I have some success with it.

Hehe. No cricitism intended, btw. I never bought any of the fixes you mentioned so all I have to work with is the stuff I mentioned.
The Weightmapped version is a huge improvement on the original but mine is acting a bit flakey for some reason. Maybe a reinstall - of everything - would be in order. That, or a hammer through the computer.

No problem Sam, none taken.
Just for the heck of it, I just did a comparison of the two methods, and even though I could get the neck and shoulders looking better with your suggestions, I found the collar at a better angle, but the shoulders still look like she's wearing football shoulder pads under her skin. The one thing that bothers me the most, however, that I'm not sure can be fixed manually with V3's morphs, is the underarms. Below is V3 with Corvas' shoulder fix on the left, and my manual adjustment of her collars and shoulders on the right. I think her underarm area in the right render looks unnatural to me.

yeah. That is exactly what i was talking about. The shoulders AND the underarm creases. V4 has the same damn problem....you would think they would have learned how to fix it going from line backer V3 to V4. Someone did offer a free fix for V4 though and it works as long as you don't move the arms into too much extreme positions but overall does look better as does your fix for V3. Too bad these fixes are no longer available for V3. I will try contacting Corvas to see if I can still get the fix from him. If not..V3 is dead and V4 the only option but no biggie.

Haha. So does a good wall. I have thrown keyboards, tablets, external drives and countless mice against walls. Good way to recycle aging computer stuff you feel bad throwing away because they "sorta" still work. Break it good and eliminate the guilt of replacing it. LOL

One of the reasons the arms down position doesn't work properly is because the default T Pose isn't a natural human pose. Try it - without rotating your palms up - and you'll see how difficult it is to achieve. Most people can't do it and those that can, most of 'em end up with hunched shoulders. You will be able to get close - but not perfect - to both arms at 90 degrees out.
Arms up is yet another can of worms.

I'm thinking the youngins 39 n under can do a T pose just fine ,where old n got arthritis ,replacement parts ,need shots to walk across a room much less run. Ant old age grand ,pain in the everything.
most model characters with arms down at about 15 degrees. but then your have all kinds of difficulty's getting a good rig to put the arms above the head for that playboy pose.
there's a reason DAZ stop making characters with a 60,000 polycount. A 60,000 polycount character is just a nightmare to work with anyways.

Up to a point you're right about the joints getting stiff as we age but it's also due to the fact we don't have hinges in our shoulders. Arms above head always have to include some rotation, else you can't do it. The ball joint would pop out of the socket. Speaking from experience, I can honestly say that dislocating your shoulder is a lot less fun than it sounds.

Getting back to topic, in the absence of third party fixes, the morph brush may be of use here. Can't say I have ever tried to use it, since these days I mainly deal with hard surface models.
As for getting the Seven of Nine look, I'd suggest a poke around Google for the face and hand parts, then try sticking them on a texture of your choice. With a suitable material on the body - or body suit - and a decent hair, you should be in the ballpark.
I'd offer to do the face and hand parts but I'm short of available time. Maybe someone else could step up if you're not confident of getting a good enough result.

To go slightly OT, the first time I saw Jeri Ryan on TV was in Dark Skies. The character she played had an 'interesting' place to keep her weapons
