That looks like possibly your document display was switched to smooth shaded rather than texture shaded.
Available on Amazon for the Kindle E-Reader Monster of the North and The Shimmering Mage

I use Poser 13 and win 10
Here's a screenshot that shows 2 ways you can check.

OK . . . Where's my chocolate?
it is in my kitchen. chocolate that is. I just ate some dark chocolate
thanks for the information. I checked and it is marked for Texture Shaded. I have options for Object Style also. Texture Shaded was not checked there. after my current render finishes I will close and reopen poser to see if done anything positive
after I first noticed the problem, I done a backup on my runtime. I may uninstall tomorrow and do it again.
I really appreciate your assistance
So the monochrome image above is a screen shot of your preview after the render? If so one thought is its an OpenGL issue, might be worth switching to Sreed just as a diag step - if you right click over the preview window you should see the option. Reinstalling runtime seems a big step to do at the moment, the fact the render is working ok suggests the content is ok, you could look at resetting your preferences (would post link to instructions but cut paste skills not good on tablet, I'll post them after work if you need these details)

I was thinking about deleting the preference files so poser can rebuild them. got to remember where they are. I think they are in common files on C drive , but after looking they are not there
Am I correct in assuming you have Poser installed in C:Program Files, since you were looking in Common Files for your preferences? I stopped installing my 2D and 3D software in Program Files once I updated Windows past Windows XP, and I usually find my Preference files under C:Users > myname > AppData > Roaming. That said, I'm not sure if the preference files will still show up in AppData if you install your software to C:Program Files, but it would be worth it to check, just in case.

OK . . . Where's my chocolate?
actually my poser is installed on D drive a section of the main hard drive. of course I went straight to C drive. I will take a look in D
I have had problems with Poser shutting down after I save a render. maybe the preferences will help it also. I recall Smith Micro telling before that delete the preferences first thing when there are problems
thanks for your reply and have a great weekend

I have had Poser 11 almost since it was released and never had any really big problems until now. samples are included.
when I load V4 or any other poser compatible product, after doing a render( render works fine) I loose all colors except for monochrome whether it is V4 or a car, etc. I tried resetting everything I could find to reset with no luck
