Subject: Download manager fails to find Poser directory

doctorjo ( ) posted Tue, 19 December 2017 at 5:25 AM · edited Thu, 09 January 2025 at 2:57 AM

OK so tempted I took the plunge and bought 11.1. Hell, it was only 50 bucks. Fail! I downloaded the ntire gigabytes of stuff. Installed Poser 11 to its default directory. Then tried to install the rest. Everyone come s up with a failed to find Poser message. Am I being thick? is there a silly trick? I eeven showed it the file locations for Poser.exe which it said it couldn't find - and it still couldn't find it. HELP

yeah, right. I raised a support query with Smith Micro but by the sounds of it, it's a waste of time. hey ho. Back to Pro2012 then?

Got this in response:

There is a known issue on some Mac Systems with the Nude Figures download and the Content Update download.

The Project Team is working to resolve the issue with the file that is resulting in errors when downloading. If you’re running Windows and having any issues, please contact support at cs@smithmicro.com.

Stay tuned for further information.

I just got a response, and they said to "RELOAD" (i.e. redownload) the installers now. They said, not all installers uploaded to the Server correctly, and they have fixed it.

Oh good! 😄

Right - the download is tackled and works - now the next problem Pro 11.1 crashes the moment it initializes, or just after all the screens come up. Executable fails and bugs out. hey ho, off to the support center again.

I had this pr5oblem when I tried to update the content. Same "Can't find Poser.exe" - even if I tried copying it into the desired spot. It did put my runtime somewhere odd.. even if I thought I'd told it to use the oldfashioned runtime-and-keep-out-of-my-shared-files-cr*p

Anyway, it looks like they made the installer actually install the updates as well, as some of the folders are called something with Version 1 or the like.

Oh well...

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

I gave up on the update. On the posts here states to "Reload", and done so. It is a cycle of same error. So, I gave up, and play with poser as it is. I do not find problems (yet).

I think there is a new update that fixes this issue. I recently installed Poser 11.1 and didn't have this issue, but I had it before with what I think was the first release of 11.1.

Have 11.1 installed. Just the content update, is a mess to install. Why even bother. Poser 11.1 functions ok for me.

It's quite possible it was my computer. Just the other day it was so slow it would not even function. It took two days to reset and update. I may install 11.1 again, but probably not on that computer.
