Subject: PLEASE HELP CAN'T IMPORT ITEMS TO POSER PRO 11.1

sisokels ( ) posted Tue, 23 January 2018 at 1:56 PM · edited Thu, 07 November 2024 at 9:31 AM

I tried Moho about 2 months ago, fell in love with it and went on to buy Poser 11.1 pro last month with over seven hours of Steve Harms Tutorials. I have an issue that the support ticket has not solved- How do I import items to my work, I paid for some poser items from content paradise. I downloaded these items to a folder on my Desktop, but when I click on File/Import/Poser Doc or Prop, and attempt to import poser items I can't import 3D Object files or CR2 files, OBp files, you name it, even the poser content .mc6 files do not get imported. What could be wrong please? How do i import my items into poser! Cant import poser.png

Not to fear ... there is a path that must be used to load a file to Poser. Once you get it it's pretty easy.

This is for purchased (or freebies) items made for Poser.

  1. Poser>Menu>File>Install from zip archive...
  2. Open folder on desktop you have stored your items ... find each zip file. OR if you have opened your zip files, I suggest you go to downloads and install from there
  3. PIck each item's zip
  4. Direct them to the "download" or any custom runtime you have created.
  5. when done, refresh your LIbrary panel by clicking the circular arrows at the bottom right corner of your library panel.

All your items should show up in the download folder.

Thank you so much Boni, I just installed all my items now and as I refresh i see them appear, although not all are visible yet. But your timely response has saved me a lot of frustration and I am grateful. Please can i ask one more thing, i'm a new user to Poser, so please bear- I observed during the tutorials, that I can use the existing characters in Poser, issue is that when I upload some characters to the palette, they appear without Pupils in their eyes, please how can i fix this, see attached screen shot, the characters load with eyes all white and scary, lol, please how can I fix this?No Pupils in Poser.png

Odd... the only Edgar that should come in all white is the DevRig version. Make sure you have all the needed material installed, like Edgar2.png.

Please keep in mind I've customized my layout, it will appear a little different from yours.

Poser>tabs>Material

  1. object>Edgar2
  2. material>cornea
  3. bottom right dials ... make sure that transparency and edge are 100% and falloff is .6

Not sure how this happened, but this should be the fix. As you learn we can get you into the advanced tab of the material room, but I thought I would keep it simple at this point. I've used Poser since it's 3rd version. See if this helps. Welcome to the Poserverse ... it can be addictive!!

Come on over to the "New Poser User's Help" and the "Poser" forums ... I"m sure there are a lot of tips and help you can glean there. Besides, I'm one of the moderators at both! 😉

I just joined the new Poser users group. Its exciting but seems daunting... Never tried 3D animation before, this is my first time, always played in the 2D field... When I see users who have been active for years, I'm like WTF! How long before I start creating anything decent

Well, one step at a time. I've been using Poser since the 90's, but I'm more or less an image artist, not an animator. I suggest you take this one step at a time. and get a feel for the interface and tools. IF your goal is animation, keep a low polycount in your scene as a priority when you get to that stage. Pay attention and you can get some great images in a relatively short period of time.
