Subject: Any Python-gurus still around?

Anyone here who knows Python? I know how to run scripts, but zilch about writing them.

Thing is, I've made some Poser fish, and I thought it would be really neat with a sort of script to scatter several instances of them into a kind of school.

PhilC once made me a script do duplicate and add one hallway-segment into a long corridor, and I hoped something similar, just scattering the fish in several directions might work.

Is this possible? It would have to incorporate some sort of randomiser, I suppose.

Oh and since my fish are free, I'd love for this one to also be 😁

So far, I made an ugly resemblence of a herring, and a slightly better mackerel.

Anyone up for the task? The "herring" is already in Free Stuff, and the mackerel will be as soon as I get it packaged and uploaded :)MackerelPromo1.jpg

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Hmmm. You might want to ask Cage at Morphology ... bb at the SM forums ... I can ask Snarly, he might have some thoughts on it. Not sure if particles3 would apply to this or not ... but it only works on earlier versions of Poser.

Good idea. I'll ask around :)

I think it could be a fun and usegul script. Not just for fish but for instance butterflies as well :)

Try my ANCIENT Loader script. It has a nicely controllable random location feature.

I checked it just now, and it runs properly in Poser 11. The only limitation is that it uses props in the main or central runtime, with no switching to other runtimes.

The zip includes several versions. Use the loader-locate.py version.

I tried it again... it's not limited. The file menu lets you browse to other runtimes anywhere, and load props or other stuff from them.

I was smarter 10 years ago than I am now. Not surprising.
