It's a nice idea, and well designed. I'm pretty comfortable now with the vanilla version, but I agree: Blender can be daunting. Hopefully 2.8 will have a few design improvements to make it less so.

...can be found here https://www.bforartists.de/ Despite having used Blender for over ten years, I still stumble around and fight with it since I don't use it enough to get comfortable and familiar with the interface and dependance on shortcuts. To the rescue is this fork. It still has the same tools and capabilities, it's just wearing a new dress. This GUI is menu driven and a whole ton easier to use since it follows a fairly conventional layout. The author keeps it current with each new release of Blender.
